I don't think it is sex that determines fussiness, it's more the child's character.

My son wasn't fussy per se, but not the worlds best sleeper. Never has been and I do not expect him to really get better.

I think they both have their difficulties. My son was an easier baby than my daughter in that he wasn't as fussy, ate better, and slept better, but he was also bigger and heavier than her, making me a much more tired momma. :) he also teethed a lot more quickly (working on his two year molars right now at 16 months) and he has a very strong mommy preference, which means more interrupted sleep for me. As a toddler, I actually think both of my kids have been pretty easy; we'll see what happens when he gets into the terrible two's and three's, lol.

I think it depends on the child. My girl is super easy and always has been. I tried to think through all of our friends to see if there was a trend based on gender, and there really isn't. Some of the most difficult babies have been boys.

.@MamaJ: I agree that it just depends on the individual child. My 2.5 month old boy is typically pretty chill and laid back, but I know that when my brother and I were babies I was the easy one while he was very high maintenance

my boy was pretty fussy. Still can be at 7 months actually. He is a horrible sleeper, but a great eater. I think it just depends on the kid. Not necessarily if its a boy or girl.

I think they are equal. As a mom of both a boy and girl the newborn stage sucked more for my son because he had colic. But the toddler years for my daughter are awful :/ I cannot wait for it to end and she is only 14 months

I only have boys so I'm not sure. From observing other moms it seems that boys have more issues with BF but girls are more generally fussy so it's a toss-up.

When comparing having a son to a daughter, which would you find is easier to raise/take care of? We'll talk newborn to toddler stage.

I've noticed a bigger percentage of baby boys to be much more laid back than girls. Better sleepers, eaters and less fussy then girls. I have seen some boys that aren't of that like, but seems to be few and far between. It also seems to get a little easier with the girls when they get older, and than boys get a little more energetic and rambunctious, but not a heck of a lot until their closer to school age.

What have you observed or found out for yourself?
