I hope DD is interested and that I can find a way to have her participate. I worry about my WOH schedule conflicting too much. I also worry that I'll volunteer to lead her troop and have no actual time to do so. </p> <p>Like PPs I don't think I'd put DS in Boy Scouts. My brother was an Eagle Scout. He is (and was) an atheist and there were openly gay Scouts in his troop. I like that groups are made of both boys and girls and are more inclusive than the scouting group. My DH is an Eagle Scout so I could see him encouraging our boys to do it. I was in Girl Scouts for a few years as a kid but HATED selling cookies. I wouldn't want to make DD do that if she doesn't want to, nor do I have any interest in being the mom who gets to sit with the kids outside the grocery store for 3 hours so they can hawk the cookies (full disclosure, I don't like any of the cookies anyway and find the ingredient list appalling, so I have a bias to start with). I was one for years and liked it a lot. Boy Scouts are a maybe. Historically they have been pretty discriminatory to gays so I'm not huge on them. We were both in them through high school, and I worked for a Girl Scout council for a few years during and after college. We both have great memories from our scouting experiences.
