@MamaBehr: Thanks! Yeah, it's miserable for everyone, especially when my husband travels and is gone all week. The kids, for some reason, know when he's gone and gives me a really hard time. Haha! :P

@T-Mom: Use the flat rate international priority mail boxes. The weight doesn't matter, you just have to fill up the box. That's what I do when I send things back to SG for my cousin.

@Alivoo01: Awww... poor little guy. I lucked out and my oldest didn't get sick until 7 months. Still, it was terrible for all of us. My youngest got sick around 5 months too but I was more prepared for what to do and how to make him feel better. These LOs are very resilient though! It's worse on us than it is on them. Majority of the time when my boys are sick they are still playing as usual except they are a little more crankier than normal. Hang in there... Flu season sucks!

@looch: Yeah, it's bad enough to adjust to a new country and then the LOs get sick. My oldest caught hand foot mouth the first week of preschool. He was out for a week and then the tears started for two months. And he's had multiple colds and whatever since. I didn't even think about this when we first moved here. At least we're almost at the 6 month mark. It seems like that's the normal amount of time for people to adjust to new countries.

@erwoo: Ok thanks! I think I will send some in a care package to her. Too bad they are kinda heavy! I can see how you would still depend on the products you know and trust from the US! I would too..

@T-Mom: I haven't seen it, yet, but I brought a few cans with me when we moved. I can't believe how fast we went through two cans since we moved here. It used to take me forever to use one. Haha! And I am lucky I can still order it online from the U.S. but, so far, I haven't seen the unscented one in a can yet. Just the packs which works as well.

I don't know what I would do without some of the U.S. products. When my boys had gunk coming out of their eyes two weeks ago (pink eye, maybe?) I used it to get it off in the mornings without anyone crying. And it probably was pink eye b/c I got it last week myself.

@erwoo: btw do they sell Boogie Wipes overseas? My SIL in Singapore really liked mine when she visited the US and said she was gonna try and find some over there, but I wasn't sure they have them...

@MamaBehr: @T-Mom: A little good news (and I hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying this...) is that both are fever free tonight. My oldest woke up with no fever and by the time we were leaving for school it was 99 so I just gave him tylenol and he came home fever free. It's so weird... My youngest is not eating more than he has in the past two weeks. He's lost a lot of baby fat. I'm sad! he doesn't have thunder legs anymore and even his cheeks are not as big. But fever free! I am also feeling MUCH better today too. I hope we are all on the mend.... Keeping my fingers crossed! :)

@T-Mom: Yeah, they totally are. I used to come back for two months over the summer growing up and I always got really sick (full on flu and all!) within a week of arriving. I still remember how miserable it felt! The food borne stuff is scary which is why I avoid feeding my kids any street food. I'm even a little weary of some of the mall food courts too, especially if they don't look so clean.

Yeah, daycare will do it. My son started at age 2, after we did an international move and he was sick more than I would have liked that first 6 months!

@MamaBehr: Yeah, daycare will do it for sure! Part of the reason why they keep getting sick is because my oldest is in preschool and there are around 25 student in his class and someone is always sick. They make them wear masks if you're getting over something or coughing. I used to think it was so odd that students were wearing masks but I kind of appreciate it now.

So sorry! I'm sure their bodies are just reacting to the new pool of "Asian" germs :-( . I can relate a little... Every time I visit the in laws in Asia, at least one of us comes down with a food borne bacteria. EVERY time. Hope you all feel better soon...

I didn't move over seas, but moved cross country and we were so sick for the first 6 months. Granted DD started daycare for the first time, but we all got so sick from that August until February or so. I really do believe different areas have different bugs.

This is seriously driving me insane! I thought we were ALMOST over the hump and, bam, my oldest comes down with a 101 fever right after his nap. And he just got over an ear infection from being sick for so long. And my youngest have had a low grade fever on and off for almost two weeks now. Both boys have seen doctors multiple times in the last two months. OMG... Thank goodness healthcare is so cheap here but still.

When I took my youngest to see another doctor last Friday I asked him if it's normal for them to get sick for this long. He said it is pretty normal b/c our bodies are adjusting to all the new viruses in a new country and it does take some time (6 months or so) for our bodies to get used to it. And it's flu season so, you know. I finally got sick two weeks ago. I have been very careful to wash my hands all the time but I think my brain just broke or I've forgotten if I had washed my hands or not after wiping snot after snot and I probably touched my mouth. I almost want to say I know when it happened! *Sigh*

I just want some normalcy and not have to grab a tissue every few minutes. Thank goodness for Boogie Wipes! I don't know what I'd do without you! I started using my sons' little buckets for dirty tissues b/c I was getting tired of running to the trash can to throw it. Even they started doing it and have been good about not playing with it.

For those who moved overseas with little kids did this happen to you the first 6 months or a year?
