Guys I took a closer look at the button fly jeans at Target and I had NO idea they were actually snaps!! Teaching DS to snap it was another story, but he can pull them up fully zipped and snapped anyway :silly:

Another vote for the old navy karate jeans. They're really the only ones that look good on my string bean 7 year old. He's able to do the snaps, but mostly just pulls them up and down because he has no hips/butt!

We love the karate jeans from old navy.. I'm pretty sure it's a snap vs. button and they fit my tall skinny guy really well, with elastic on the inside.

Do they need to be jeans, or just every day pants? My son prefers something softer, and lives in the Carters/Osh Kosh pull on canvas pants. He's also quite thin and they're the only thing with a draw string that works well (the waist is like sweatband material)

I actually put my super skinny boy in his older sister's slim/skinny fit OshKosh jeans works great and they have no applications or the like so they work really well for a boy 🤷‍♀️

Might not work for a 5 year old but when my son we younger he lived in these jeggings from the girl’s section. We sized up so they fit more loosely then leggings but still fit in the waist. (He’s also super tall and skinny.)

I've had good luck with zara, HM, and gap slim sizes. The jeans I buy from HM are the skinny cut. They have buttons or toggles but are stretchy so my LO just pulls them up or down without undoing them. The zara sweats are hit or miss, some run bigger than others. I usually have to order a bunch and return most.

I bought some Levi's at Target for my 3 year old (45" & 44 lbs) in a 5 Slim from the little boys section. They have the adjustable elastic on the inside and a C hook instead of a button; he's able to hook it on his own.

So I have a slim, tall DD and we get jeans exclusively from The Childrens Place. When they are less than $7 I stock up. They have adjustable waists on the inside. They have button flies, but we never undo them, she just pulls them straight up and down. I imagine their slim boys jeans could possibly function the same way?

So he can’t wear the cat and jack 5t? Their slim jean is my favorite. https://www.target.com/p/toddler-boys-pull-on-skinny-jeans-cat-jack-8482-medium-wash-3t/-/A-53368743

Following because I have no idea what to do when my new 5yo can’t wear them anymore! He’s super skinny these days. I’ve also had my mom put elastic into some pants that fit in length. A tailor could probably do it pretty easily.

We’ve had good luck with the Children’s Place jeans and pants because they offer slim sizes. But all the jeans we have from there do have a button fly (but a snap button which my 4 year old can do!)

I can’t recommend a specific brand or pant but someone else on here recommended this and it works - put toggles on drawstring pants. Much easier to tighten and get tighter.

Does this exist? Cat n Jack from Target had really nice denim jogger pants in toddler sizes. Now DS is a size 5 but he’s still only 4 so he can’t really do buttons well. We have a decent pair with a drawstring waist from Old Navy but the waist is huge and the drawing barely tightens. He’s tall and thin, and brands I could try that are reasonably priced?
