@swedishfish, I wore mine even when I had my epidural and afterwards! The epidural goes into the lower/middle part of your back....my bra was never an issue.

I wore one of the belly bands that hold the monitors over my chest. Even while in the shower. The nurse pulled it down for skin to skin and later cut it off when R pooped on it.

I wore a sports bra the whole time. Even during my c-section. You're "allowed" to do whatever you want! I didn't even ask. Do what makes you the most comfortable. I definitely would have been self conscious the whole time if I had been braless.

I usually go out of my way to not wear a bra if I don't have to, so I anticipate that I won't be wearing one during labor unless my boobs are gigantic (D-cup and still rising).

@swedishfish: I googled and just found this. I may order one and check it out. It's a front-closure sleeping/nursing bra. Looks comfy and pretty easy to unsnap for skin to skin time.

I wore a nursing 'sleep' bra, no wires. Wore it during labor, the epidural and birth. There were some complications so we didn't get skin-to-skin but I don't think it would've been a problem, it was easy to pull it down/around/off when needed.
I had a gown on but with the monitors and IVs and everything I was just wearing the bra at the end.

The nursing sleep bras are really comfortable if you feel like you need to wear something for a little support. Just plan to have a nurse cut it off of you near the end of labor so that you don't have to worry about navigating all the wires during its removal and can do that skin to skin with your new baby right away.

I voted I didn't care cause I have no idea if I even wore one. I can't remember. Is that bad? If I did it must have been a nursing bra, wore then at the end of the pregnancy cause I couldn't stand under wire any longer.

I am large chested and hate hate hate not wearing a bra. When I arrived at the hospital I was wearing a sports bra. It was fine for during labor and delivery but afterwards the nurses had to help me out of it so we could do skin to skin. Next time I plan on wearing a sports bra that zips up in the front that I wore a lot as a sleep nursing bra.

I wore a cotton bra through labor but I had to take it off when I went in for a c section. I probably would have kept it on had I had a vaginal delivery but in retrospect it was more convenient not to have to take it off for the immediate breastfeeding and skin to skin.
