My husband and I wear those ourselves, but the girls in my school don't at all (well, let's say 98% don't). It's more of a hipster look and I guess the kiddos at my school are a lot more...I don't know, typical Americana? And my niece who is almost 15 doesn't wear chucks, either. She lives in the south, but mainly wears regular unfashionable tennis shoes, ballet flats, or flip flops. It's a very practical gift but I'd like to get a ''cool'' brand so the little girl can feel that they are special. I'd buy a practical sneaker type show and something less practical like Toms or flip flops. What's cool these days? </p>
