So my cervix was thick and closed and baby sounded good. My uterus did tighten up when she was searching with the Doppler so she got to see what I was talking about. Since everything looked and sounded good she wasn't too worried, just said some people have more irritable uteruses, could have to do with a growth spurt for baby, even slight dehydration etc. I did have a yeast infection at my last appointment 9 days ago which I treated but she said things still looked irritated and a particularly nasty infection could cause cramping so I'm re-treating and she's sending out a swab.

So for now, baby's OK. And I have a scan Wednesday. Thanks for all the feedback!!

@IRunForFun: even if it is that or whatever there's no reason to feel silly. It's good to be proactive and talk to your nurse/midwives/drs who see the stuff all the time.

@IRunForFun: best wishes! The other thing it might be is round ligament pain. That feels like period cramping to me sometimes. Glad you're getting checked out , Hope you get some answers.

@IRunForFun: Oh no! Hope the MW has some answers for you! I had cramps that were similar at around 20 weeks. Turned out I was really dehydrated. I hope that it's a simple explanation for you as well.

I'm just updating that at 5:45 am I woke up from a dream that I was having bad cramps and it turns out I was cramping a lot. It felt exactly like I was about to get my period. So now I'm sitting waiting to see the midwife, ugh. They already did a urine dip that came back clear so we will see what she says.

@SweetiePie: Thanks! Even the nurse who called back was saying it seems too early and asking a bunch of other questions, like if I was constipated, if I had a stomach bug, etc etc. She even said maybe the hardness I was feeling in my belly was baby sticking it's butt out...I'm like uh well baby weighs less than 4 ozs right now so unless it has a giant ass...But I honestly don't see how it could be anything else. And knowing others have experienced it too is super helpful!

I had them starting at EXACTLY 16 weeks. Everyone said I was crazy but my OB confirmed that it was possible and sounded like it based on my description.
Everything was perfectly fine :-) Never hurts to ask though if it'll give you peace of mind.

@IRunForFun: I had them start that early. I have a lot of BH all the time. OB said to call if they ever were painful, timeable or more than 6 per hour. There were definitely hours where I had more than 6, but they never had me come in. I was drinking a lot of water too; some people just have them more than others I think!

I know my IBS is exacerbated by anxiety and I'm weaning off anxiety meds now so I wonder if there's a connection with the uterus too?

I've had them since like 14/15 weeks. (I'll be 36 tomorrow). I used to wake up with a rock hard uterus in the middle of the night. My early ones were not aggravated by dehydration but some later (and more frequent) ones were. You're smart to call and be sure, but I think it's more common than people realize. In the past two weeks I've had an increase in them, even when I'm clearly hydrated. Just how my body is getting ready I think.
