my sister used to bite her nails and my mom used a similar bitter tasting treatment on her fingers to stop it.

Mavala Stop! Get it on Amazon. It is horrible tasting, but effective.

My LO has always been a thumbsucker, but we were lazy about trying to curb the behavior until she started preschool at age 3. I got it into my head that she was getting sick more often because she always had her thumb in her mouth and then was determined to kick the habit. My LO is older than yours, so in our case rewards really helped, too. If she went a week without sucking her thumb she got a Paw Patrol bath toy squeezie thing. For us it took about 2 weeks.

Our 1 year old LOVES her thumb, she has it in her mouth 75% of the time. I hate it so much, she sleeps with it in he mouth too. I know this is bad and I pull it out when I can - (not when she's upset) but when she's just sitting playing with it in her mouth, i say "yucky we don't need that" and she just laughs. I want to do it before it starts affecting her teeth, how did you break your thumb suckers habit?
