Honsetly, I would wait if she's not eating other foods well right now. My daughter was kinda the same, she's too tired at night after daycare to eat a good breakfast but I think the milk (6-8oz) at night helped her finally sleep through the night.

Magically, one day last month (21 months), she was super tired and almost asleep in my lap after reading books. We just put her to bed and she didn't protest. The next day we bought her a new (different then her others) special sippy. That night when she asked for the bottle, the new cup distracted her. The next day we packed them all up and told her the bottles were all gone. She threw a bit of a fit, but by the end of the week stopped asking. Hopefully the paci goes as smoothly.

@Weagle: I don't think it is, if you think she needs the needs the nutrition from the milk.

@looch: Maybe we'll hold off then. She won't drink anything from a sippy, just straw cups. I guess it's really not a big deal if its one bottle a day.

@Weagle: Then you could just go to a sippy, I think. A lot of parents do it this way.

I guess I wouldn't be in a rush to get rid of the bottle. I'd hold off until around 18 months.

@looch: That's not an option with our bottles, but I wish it were!

Do you use a system of bottles where you can replace the nipple with a spout? That's how I would start, if you really want to bottle wean. The container stays the same but the delivery method changes.

My son is 2.5 years old and at his well visit the other day, the ped recommended that he be drinking between 16 and 20 ounces of milk a day. Since he doesn't drink it during the day and he's not been eating as wide variety as I would like, he gets 10 ounces morning and night.

LO is 13 months and getting a bottle of whole milk every night still. She's not a huge fan of milk during the day, but she will drink it from the bottle at night as that was our routine with pumped milk. How do I break this? She doesn't fall asleep with it, so there's no bottle/sleep association. She doesn't drink milk well at all during the day. I hesitate to quit because I worry (probably unnecessarily) about her calorie intake - I think the child lives on sunshine these days. Do I do it cold turkey? Wait until she's better at drinking milk during the day? Any advice is appreciated!
