EBF here, she is 9.5 months and I'm pretty sure AF is restarting right now as I've had a LITTLE light spotting.

@sloaneandpuffy: Okay, good to know. Yeah, it sounds like solids and sleeping through the night was the reason for me too. I was waking him to nurse even if I know he could sleep through. I just didn't want another episode of mastitis. So far so good!

@erwoo: my supply would dip right before I got my period each time. Then it would go back up but I dIdnt have the oversupply I had before that. I got my period when my son started solids and started sleeping through the night so it was a combination of factors I think.

Charting is a good way to keep an eye on things and I think you will see how your cycle goes back to normal month by month.

@sloaneandpuffy: Interesting! I never even thought to do that! How did your period affect your supply? Is it suppose to? I think not nursing for 10-12 hours was the reason why my period came.

I got my period around 4.5 months pp while EBF. LO started sleeping 10 hours a night between feedings around 3 months and I didn't wake up to pump so that might have been why I got my period do early :(

Since getting my period back, it's been all over the place. Pre-pregnancy, I had a pretty regular cycle. But now I've had 30 day and 45 day cycles.

6 months pp and I was ebf. It was normal ish. Mostly I hated the effect on my supply!

I started charting immediately and what I did notice was a very short luteal phase which probably would have continued to prevent a successful pregnancy had I been trying at that point.

@sorrycharlie: @littleveesmommy: @yin: Sounds like it's not unusual to get your period even while EBF/exclusively pumping. It's more of an inconvenience than anything. Haha! I remember having some spotting-like period around month 4 or so and then it didn't come back until now. With my first, I remember my period being really heavy the first few months and then it started being more normal after that. I hated soaking through a lot of heavy duty pads in the beginning...

My period came back when I was 11 months pp while exclusively pumping. I was pumping around 6 times a day and had not changed my routine for a long while. It came as a surprise. My period seemed to last longer than usual, and my cycles took a while before they became regular.

I got my period once at 4 months pp when I was EBF around the clok still and was really upset! Then it went into hibernation again until two weeks ago at 10.5 months pp. this time around DD has just about night weaned and eats 3 square meals along with nursing around four times a day, but not nearly as much BM as she used to intake.

mine started 7 weeks postpartum and has been perfectly regular since :/ LO is 3 months old thursday!

it was definitely heavy, but nothing obscene..like, 1-2 pads a day is fine. I haven't braved tampons yet :P

My LO is turning 9 months in a few more days and I'm still exclusively breast feeding him and giving solids 3x a day now. I've also night weaned three days ago so he is only nursing 3-4 times a day now. And today I think I got my period for the first time since before he was conceived. I was a little bothered that it came bc I hate dealing with it. And we will be going overseas in about a month so I was hoping that it would come when I stopped nursing him, after we come back. I nursed my oldest 4-5 times a day until he was 8 months and didn't get my period until I stopped nursing him so thesis new to me.

When did you get your period while nursing if you did. Did you go back to your regular cycle right away? Was it really heavy for a few months and go back to normal after a while?
