I did when he was more high maintenance! Each night I'd fill water bottles and tupperwares with snacks and put them all out so I could grab with one hand while holding baby. Now he's happy to hang out or naps in his crib so I have more freedom - dont worry, it's a phase!

It was so hard for me to eat and drink especially when I was alone with the baby. I second that keeping a bottle of water everywhere will help you drink more because you won't have to go out of your way to get some.

While I was on maternity leave I basically ate one meal a day M-F(dinner) when DH got home, unless someone was home to help. I just made sure to keep a lot of healthy snacks around--nuts and trail mix--and I stored them in a bunch of places all over the apartment, the bathroom, baby's room, living room, our bedroom.

Yes, yes, yes!

I had a massive dip in supply at New Years because basically I wasn't eating enough food and all of a sudden I couldn't shove enough food on my mouth! I pretty much spent a week eating two of every meal plus snacks.

I try to keep my calories up by eating oatmeal every morning and ensuring that eating is the first thing I do when LO goes down for a nap. In the early days I also used to keeps a container of snacks next to my nursing chair and I drank "liquid breakfast" drinks as they were quick and convenient.

I know it's silly, but as someone who never drank water pre-baby, when LO was born I got a cup with a lid and straw, I found I drank way more and kept it (well two of them) in an easy to reach spot (change table, I could just lean in and sip! and counter top in kitchen, always passing it) and made sure I kept up on my water intake! The straw made the water go down faster and I was more apt to take a sip then a regular cup...!

I think water is mostly important for supply. If you don't get enough, your supply may dwindle. I definitely have a hard time eating well. I try to choose decent foods, but I rarely have the time to eat them anyway!

I know it's so important to get enough calories and water when BF. LO is 5 weeks old and some days I struggle with getting in proper meals and keeping my water bottle full in between feedings. Esp on days when he just wants to be held. When i can get him down i just end up shoving something in my mouth and guzzling water. Anyone else struggle with this ?
