I haven't heard of massage pre-baby, but my mom and sis did recommend rubbing my nipples with a rough washcloth regularly during pregnancy, to toughen them up in preparation for breastfeeding.

I have never heard of massaging pre-baby (and I have taken classes towards my LC certification), the reason massage during breastfeeding works is that it helps the milk ducts release the milk, so I can;t imaging what benefit pre-birth breast massage would have ... Other than psychological maybe.

Ok, that's what I thought. I didn't think women massaged beforehand, at least I have never heard of it.

Has anyone else tried massaging pre-baby? Has it helped?

I didn't do massage pre-baby but before and during pumping and sometimes during nursing I would massage to get or keep the milk flowing.

Hurm... I may have massaged my breasts but can't remember.
I did and still do massage my breasts while I'm breastfeeding though. It helps to keep things flowing. :)

I was talking to a friend today and she was giving me pregnancy tips, one thing she said was to make sure to massage my breasts, every morning and night. It's supposed to help make it easier to breastfeed later. Has anyone ever heard of this?

I Googled it and found this video on YouTube: http://youtu.be/bLu8EuY8Jko So it can't be so uncommon. How come I've never heard of this before?
