Babies usually need about 20-30 ounces of breast milk. As they get older and need more calories, the milk will adjust, so they get more in the same amount of milk. An older baby does not need more ounces because the milk contains more nutrients.
With formula, babies need more ounces as their caloric needs go up. I think there are charts online that show how much a baby needs based on age and weight.

I stopped nursing at 7 months when my supply disappeared. We used my freezer stash as we transitioned to formula. DS took a little more than the average amount for breast milk (about 25-30 ounces of breast milk a day total) and he carried over that amount for the first month or so that he was on formula (from 7 months to 8 months of age). Then he was on more solids and cut back on the formula he was drinking to 20 ounces a day total. One way to do it until you know how much he will take is to make the formula in a pitcher and start by offering him whatever amount he takes of breastmilk (if he's taken breastmilk by bottle before) or about 3-4 ounces. If you make it in a pitcher, it's good for 24 hours, but then you can add small amounts to the bottle if he's still hungry after a bottle.

my LO is also 6 months old and won't take 6oz of BM or formula, ever.
we mostly BF but supplement every once and a while.
depending on how many times you would feed LO while they are at daycare. I would think you should be good with 4oz x the number of feedings.

Not sure if this is helpful, but I do know that the BM vs. Formula ratio is not the same. My daughter is in daycare and is still EBF. Our daycare provider keeps trying to tell me that she should be drinking 1oz for every month old (6 months old = 6 oz of BM). However, I think that applies to formula, not BM. My LO is definitely not ready for 6oz of BM every feeding! This article on Kellymom might be useful: http://kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/pumping/milkcalc/

If your baby drinks x amount of breastmillk, does that mean they will drink the same amount of formula? My baby starts daycare in a month, and I'm trying to figure out how much formula she would take at each feeding
