I decided to go with the basic, since I do have my sister's. But I won't open it at all until breastfeeding is established, I guess, so I can always exchange it for the upgrade if I ended up EPing for whatever reason.
Thanks!

I have the PISA and the Freestyle and I'm starting to prefer my Freestyle because I can strap it to me in the morning, eat, make coffee, and tend to LO when she starts fussing without having to stop pumping and detach. I use the PISA when DH can take care of the baby, but if it's just me and the baby isn't dead asleep, the Freestyle is definitely easier. I EP, so I use my pumps a TON

@Foodnerd81: yep... power is better on the dbl electric generic one vs the freestyle. but i still got milk out both ways, the dbl electric is just more efficient for pumping at work.

i love the freestyle's portability though, LOVED it during maternity leave. serves no purpose at work though since i'm in a room with an outlet anyway. so for being a SAHM, the freestyle upgrade might be worth it :)

I have the basic and it is fine for me and I work. So if you are home you won't be pumping as much. This is it. Just is the pump and parts.

I am a WOHM and use a PISA which I love but since you aren't going to be using it a lot I'd just get the free one.

@mrsjyw: You notice a difference in the suction? I though the rep said they had the same motor (now as I type this, that doesn't make sense since the Freestyle is lighter...)

#1! I'm a WOHM p/t mom and I use that one at work! :) It's a great pump! I have a freestyle at home as well... and I honestly like the suction of the basic dbl better! :)

Just spoke with my insurance and the medical equipment supplier and I'm coming to you all for advice.

My sister gave me her Medela Pump In Style Advanced. She used it for 1 year with my nephew as a WOHM. She did say they wear out, so if I can get one free from my insurance, I may as well.

My insurance will provide a double electric for free. The company I called (good reputation so I'm just going with what they said) told me my options are:
1) Medela Advanced Personal Double Basic-- no battery pack included, electric only, completely covered by insurance.
2) Upgrade to Pump In Style Advanced for $50. Included nicer case and battery pack.
3) Upgrade to Freestyle for $100, with all the bells and whistles a Freestyle comes with.

Considering that I plan to be a SAHM, and I already have the used PISA, what would you recommend? I'm thinking just go with the free one, for use at home, and I can use the old PISA when I travel and may need the battery? The freestyle sounds awesome, but since I won't be working outside the home, it doesn't seem like I'd need it, right? Moms who only pump occasionally, what say you?

The options are listed out on this site if you want to look:
