@hilsy85: Yes, I love it! It came with high recommendations from the ladies around WeddingBee, so I went for it. I have better luck with this pump than with the hospital grade one I rented for the first month. It is small and always has done what I needed in 15 minutes or less.

Their customer service was great too- I didn't get the lids to their bottles shipped initially, and they overnighted them to me.

Let me know if you have any questions about it.

@lawbee11: shoo, I totally sent my insurance an email through their portal inquiring too. There's so much "prep" work for the baby so anything we can get started on and taken care in advance will be awesome.

@Foodnerd81: I decided to be tenacious and called my insurance company again after seeing this post. I guess our insurance doesn't "renew" until June, at which time the Affordable Care Act policies may kick in, but I guess employers still have the right to opt out. My insurance told me to call my husband's insurance coordinator at his job to find out if the benefit will kick in in June but I guess I won't hold my breath. But since some companies can opt out, that must be why Hygeia is offering this coupon.

I also asked about rental, but that is not currently covered either.

@lawbee11: Wow! you're really ahead of the curve! Totally following your footsteps and sending my insurance an email now to inquire about their coverage on a breast pump! I thought I had to wait until I was 30 something weeks to inquire.

@Foodnerd81: Haha I am kind of a crazy planner :) I logged into my account and sent a message because I would like something in writing. I doubt they will actually give you the pump until the baby is born (or right before), but I wanted to start looking for deals if they don't cover one!

So awesome!

FYI: I think most insurance companies might not cover the pump until after the birth

@GreenThumb: I thought that all new plans had to cover something for a breast pump now-- even if a stripped down version or a rental?

@lawbee11: You called already? I thought it would still be way to early to call (I'm 12 weeks) but maybe not? It is the right calendar year now and I guess it is something you want before the kid is born.

@hilsy85: Thank you so much for passing this along. I actually just called my insurance company yesterday and was SHOCKED that my plan will not cover a pump or even rental. Apparently my husband's company opted out of that benefit.

That's awesome! I actually just put in a request to my insurance company about pumps yesterday and should hear back by tomorrow. If they won't cover any I will definitely be doing this.

Found this on the Bump!
Hygeia's FB page has a promotion offering $150 off to anyone without breast pump coverage through their insurance.

"It breaks our hearts to see so many moms unable to find pumps or get them covered by their insurance companies. While this might not be a solution that's workable for everyone, if you can prove that you have been denied coverage or are unable to get one of our pumps due to the DME situation, email us at socialmedia@hygeiababy.com and we'll give you a coupon code (upon verification of your information) that is good for $150 off the LBI on our site. It's our belief that the insurance companies pay about that amount for the pump, so if you have a chance in heck of getting reimbursed by them, that might work. We will also gladly work with anyone who emails us to try to find you a pump personally. socialmedia@hygeiababy.com"
