I use the Medela Pump in Style Advanced Tote and LOVE it! PS-all the PISA are the same pump, the bags are just different. I think there are 3 types of bags.

I used the Medela Pump in Style with my first and the Medela Freestyle with my second. Love both pumps, but the Freestyle is awesome for portability, so if you're going to be pumping at work, that's a plus. Some reviews say the Freestyle has a weaker motor, but I didn't find that to be true. I also read complaints that it was loud, but not sure it was much louder than the Pump in Style. It's so small anyway, if the noise bothered me, covering it with a blanket or putting it in the bag it came in reduced the noise alot.

the second time around i learned that i wanted to rent a hospital grade pump for the first month to increase my chances of establishing a good supply. this might be a good idea for first-time moms who are unsure about purchasing a pump before even giving birth. it gives you a chance to try out a certain pump while having access to a hospital-grade one.

regarding the finances of buying one, a few of my friends have called their insurance companies and have said that their insurance will cover it. one friend said her insurance would only cover it if she bought it through the hospital she's giving birth at (she got the info while on her hospital tour).

i personally used my healthcare spending account to buy the pump (and breast pads, lanolin, shells, etc). there was a new law that passed in 2011 that allowed these items to be eligible, which helped us out alot!

Honestly, I wouldn't buy a pump until you know for sure....I rented a hospital pump first. Good pumps are expensive, and if pumping doesn't work for you or you can't produce milk, that's a good $300 down the drain. You can try to resell the pump, but you won't get full price. And if you've opened the package, you can't return it. Since I started with the Ameda hospital pump, I later bought the Ameda Purely Yours so that I could reuse all my supplies.

I bought the Medela "Pump-In-Style" based not only off online reviews, but also praise from various girlfriends who have kids & have used that one. I have the back pack style as opposed to the tote. I've not used it yet, though, so I'm not able to give a first hand review.

I have the Hygeia Enjoye, and I absolutely love it! I rented Ameda's hospital grade pump for a month and switched to the Hygeia with no problems. I'm an exclusive pumper, and it has been through a lot of pumping sessions and still going strong.

I would recommend reading Oh Apostrophe's review at: http://ohapostrophe.blogspot.com/2011/04/hygeia-enjoye-breast-pump-review.html

I got the Ameda "Purely Yours" breast pump. Ameda is the brand used at my hospital. I rented one from the hospital for 2 weeks and then bought my own. Easy to assemble, clean, and use.

Just starting to put together our registry and wanted to see if any mothers out there could chime in on the breast pump they have used? I've read many reviews on amazon, etc but still cant' decide. I plan to take time off after LO arrives but will be going back to work soon after. Thanks in advance!
