I had a Medela with #1, and had supply issues for the full year I was breastfeeding (which probably didn't have much to do with the pump), but I think I want to try the Spectra S1 this time.

Ooo a little tip to help establish supply... try to get the baby skin to skin instantly, like covered in vernix and amniotic fluid. And no bathing baby for 24 hours. You can Google the science behind it, it's fascinating. This was my hospital's policy and I had great luck breastfeeding both my sons (one was preemie!)

I think it's expensive but most moms I know prefer the Haaka! I liked my Spectra s2!

@Clementine12: The expression pattern is totally different than any other pump and my body responded to it really well -- better than to the Symphony I had access to over 7 weeks of NICU time.

There's the option of an expression pattern that's pretty similar to other pumps, but the one most people use has progressively stronger and longer pulls a pattern of 10 shorter and lower intensity pulls and then one long, strong pull.

It is also super small and portable (but LOUD!).

@Clementine12: oh man I had Lactivist but it was so gross I didn’t take it consistently! I must say their IG is so good! So much food info.

@graceandjoy: when I was taking them the Lactivist was still only out in small batches and I was never able to try it. I see that they have a more regular stock now so I'm excited to see if that helps! Plus I've been reading up on manual expression in the last few weeks of pregnancy as a boost to supply and I'm going to start pumping earlier this time around so I can get used to the pump.

@Clementine12: I took those! I tried the bundle, but I never figured out which one gave me the best, or had the most effect. But I wasn't about to mess with my decent supply so I just kept at it. Maybe it would have been fine without, who knows lol. I plan to take them this time too just as a precaution! I was too scarred from not having enough and all the stress I had!

@graceandjoy: what supplements did you try? I tried a few of the Legendairy products and didn't notice an uptick in supply (but did in fat content!)

@Clementine12: I def think my supply was just better (and maybe b/c I wasn't so stressed about it too). I also took supplements that I didn't the first time. Good luck  :goodluck:

I had Medela twice and finally going for a Spectra this time for my 3rd. I also had to supplement DD1 by 6 months but nursed for 2.5+ years with DD2, so there's def hope that it gets better!!

I had a Spectra S1 with my daughter and liked it. I am due in 2 months with DD2 and its time to start thinking about a pump.

I will return to work 12 weeks pp and be pumping 4 days a week for 9 months at least (or, thats my plan). 3ish sessions a day. I have a private office I pump in, and I commute in my car, so size and privacy aren't huge concerns. I didn't have great supply with DD and was supplementing at 6 mos.

I see there is a new kid or 2 on the block, so to speak.

Has anyone tried Motif? The Luna or Duo.

What about the Elvie? It's a heafty upcharge but if it's a miracle worker...

Thank you in advance!
