For us weaning from the breast is much more difficult. She stopped being interested in bottles around 8 months by herself. But at 20 months I'm trying to get her to nurse less, we want baby #2 which isn't happening with nursing, but little girl is very attached to nursing and it's def hard to hear her want it especially if she has a cold or teething and I know it is healthy for her so we're still trying to figure out how to gradually wean.

I'd guess bottle.
I just plan on washing them and packing them AWAY cold turkey,
You can't do that with breasts. Plus, there are emotions involved.
By the way: 3yrs old? That's ....obnoxious.

@Mrs. Pen: Sorry, I mean tthat mothers have a hard time because their children are resistant to weaning from breastfeeding. I didn't mean to comment on the emotional issues a mother might have with weaning, although I'm sure that has something to do with it, too

@Honeybee: I was thinking more along the lines of the child, I know some mamas are emotional about ending BF, I would be if it was too early. But as far as the child goes- which is more difficult?

@honeybear: ha. Same with my son. I'm not a fan of pping do he only gets bottles when I leave him which isn't even monthly

@Mrs. Pen: LO has had like ten bottles in his entire existence (2.5 years), so I don't know which is harder. (He did actually like the bottle, but I didn't like pumping or cleaning the bottle parts/pump parts, so I just put them all away.) My feeling is that BF weaning isn't hard unless you have a deadline that doesn't correspond to your LO's. We have been taking the very scenic route to weaning instead of the expressway, but we're getting there!* It's a pleasant trip, so don't worry about it if you find yourself on the same road. ;)

*Details: We're at about once a day now, but sometimes he forgets and we skip a day.

Most mamas I know have a harder time ending breastfeeding than bottlefeeding, but of course, every child is different! In my own experience, DD was the easiet kid in th eworld to bottle wean; I hope DS is the same way!

Ahhh I would love to hear the results of this. We started on a bottle at morning/night so I could wean some off the breast and DH could do some bedtimes but now she's addicted to the bottle!

I would think bottle. You can just get rid of it, out of sight, out of mind. The boobs are always there, you can't really hide those.

I thought it would be hard to wean from the bottle because my LO love love loved her bottle, but we stopped cold turkey and she was fine with it. Now she loves her milk :)
