Does he take a pacifier? My baby is pretty fussy about taking a bottle and for months refused to take one at all. I tried soooo many different bottles with little no luck but he loves MAM pacifiers so I tried the MAM bottle as a last resort and it was the one he found least offensive.

Distracting him was the only other thing that helped. My husband fed him a bottle in the swing while the lights and mobile were on....my dad was able to give him a bottle by letting the baby stare at stained glass while eating.

@BabyTsMom: have you tried the lansinoh mOmma bottle? I recommend it! Also, I think your milk gets fattier around then - is he not taking anything? Or just taking less?

@Pirouette: I've tried the Dr. Brown's wide neck version and Born Free wide neck, but no go on those.... I'm going to try Avent next....
@sailgrl18: interesting! I'll have them try the bouncer...
I guess I could stretch out his feedings...that's kinda what's happening anyway since he'll refuse to take the whole bottle during one feeding, then is hungrier for the next one....

I second the suggestion of feeding her somewhere that is distracting. You'd think that would counterintuitive but for some reason, they don't mind eating when they have things to look at. I've done this when my LO was on both a nursing and bottle strike.

my LO is 9 months and still fights the bottle, and i went back to work at 2.5 months. For a while, she took it like a champ, but then she went back to rejecting it again once she realized she was old enough to have an opinion :silly: i'm still nursing, and hadn't planned on it, because it's the only way i can assure she'll eat!

have you tried any other bottles? also, she takes the bottle better when we bring her to the park or something because she's too distracted to fight it. at that age, we also let her look out the window a lot. You can also try varying the temperatures of the milk and maybe try stretching out her feedings so she's hungrier? i also second the bouncer recommendation - for a while that was the only place she'd eat!

My LO had only taken a bottle a handful of times when she started daycare. Mostly she refused, and it didn't matter who offered. When she started at daycare, they "tricked" her into taking a bottle by giving her a pacifier first, then quickly switching the bottle nipple into her mouth. Why this worked is beyond me, especially since she didn't even take a pacifier either when she started daycare! But within a week, she was a pro at the bottle and would take it from anyone. So that could be an option, if your LO likes pacifiers.

LO is 8 months and still stinks at taking his bottle (I've been back to work since 4 months). He prefers not to be held when taking the bottle or facing out if held. Have you tried putting your LO in a bouncer and feeding the bottle. We also use Playtex Nursers which have a wider nipple than Dr. Browns.

Hi all, I posted this in the supplementing section but got no responses so I figured I'd try my here.... My 4.5 month old nurses except when I'm at work, when he gets bottles of breastmilk. He only takes the bottle from my mom, not from my husband or babysitter, and it's difficult a lot of the time for my mom.

We currently use Dr. Brown's. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to get LO to take the bottle easier? We introduced the bottle early, so I don't know why it's such a battle. I am planning to supplement soon, and stop breastfeeding around 6-7 months, so I need LO to take the bottle!!

Thanks in advance...
