I think something like this happened to me earlier this year, actually. My periods are usually very regular, but earlier this year I was 2 weeks late! We weren't TTC (I was actually scheduled to have an IUD placed, which they wouldn't do with my period MIA). I couldn't figure out why my period would go missing out of no where, but one of my friends pointed out that my kids (twins, about 32 months at the time), were sick and sleeping badly and wanting to nurse around the clock. I went from nursing them 3x a day each, to probably nursing 10 or more times per day for the week when I probably would have been ovulating (I wasn't keeping track, but based on when I used to ovulate, the timing would have been right). I really think the intense increase in nursing might have thrown off that whole cycle.

I had a few really long cycles around the time I started tracking for TTC, after fairly normal cycles since 6 weeks post partum!!!! This would have been when my son was somewhere around 18m-2y. Then I settled into a regular cycle and got pregnant maybe 4m later.

I got my period back in November when my daughter was 7 months and I was still nursing/pumping 6-8 times/day. We wanted to conceive again quickly, so I started tracking my temp, CM, and OPKs. My charts were so all over the place it was hard to even track, and I think I had a couple anovulatory cycles. I noticed a couple times where I was gearing up to ovulate, then I had several days where my daughter was nursing more because she was sick, and then my opks would go back to negative again. I think frequency of nursing can definitely mess with your cycles. I'd be surprised if you went back to not having your period, but I think it's perfectly normal to have longer, irregular cycles while nursing, unfortunately! :(

I think it's possible ... I don't have direct experience but for me, af came back at 7m for LO1 (who never nursed at night after a young age) and stayed away until 12m for LO2 who always nursed at night. Something about that night session kept my hormones at bay.

How frustrating! Have you been tracking ovulation at all? When I was nursing DS1, my cycle came back at 11 month and were super irregular until I got pregnant again when he was 18 months. We were only nursing 2-3x/day, and the amount he nursed didn't seem to coincide with longer vs shorter cycles. I don't know...hormones are weird. Hopefully you don't need to wean DD to get pregnant, as it sounds like neither of you are ready ❤️

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

My daughter is 27 months. Still breastfeeding 3-4 times a day. My periods came back in September and have been regular for the past 6 months. We started TTC this cycle. I had some light brown spotting the day AF was due along with cramping. But, here I am 4 days later with no AF and negative pregnancy tests. (Imagine my disappointment)

The only thing I can think of is that my daughter has been skipping naps and going to bed super early (6:00-7:00PM). Because of this, she often wakes around 1:00-3:00AM and wants to nurse).

Would it be abnormal for my period to disappear due to the added night nursing after 6 regular cycles? I asked my doctor but they just said to call in a week if I still haven't started. 🙄

Thanks, ladies!!!
