YES! I'm 5 months PP and it's starting to wane, but I think that's just because I have a cold this week. When I'm up at night with LO I'm always snacking: protein bars, cookies, whatever!

Yep for a while I woke in the middle of the night out of my own hunger. Now at 6 months I finally don't need to eat and drink overnight!

I was JUST saying the same thing this morning. I'm 4.5 months pp and feel like I'm eating every hour I'm awake. I am a bottomless pit of hunger. And yet I am now 8 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight.

You need to eat about 500 more calories per day while breastfeeding then the usual recommended daily intake. I was constantly eating when I was nursing, and still lost all my pregnancy weight and then some.

@Corduroy: I've heard this argument before and completely agree. We've spent a lot to feed me when I was breastfeeding. Now that I'm not, the formula containers seem expensive, but probably aren't compared to how much I had to eat to produce enough for LO's daily needs.

I ate way more breastfeeding than I did gestating my little dude.

I didn't really start to feel like ravenously hungry until week 11. Now I can eat so much! Been trying to eat more protein.

I'm almost 6 months into breastfeeding and my appetite is just starting to plateau. I was a maniac at the beginning - I would finish dinner and immediately toast a bagel because I was still hungry.

I'm right there with you. I try to eat lots of protein and fat to help keep me full longer. Even so I think I could have eaten a horse yesterday. I had three eggs and guac for breakfast and I was starving again by 8:30. I feel like when people calculate the cost savings of breast feeding they aren't taking my two extra meals a day into consideration.

I definitely have a heftier appetite and my LO is seven months. I didn't notice my appetite go up in pregnancy, but breastfeeding is definitely making me constantly starving. I've lost all but the last two or three pounds, but trying to lose a little extra is impossible with a giant appetite.

Is it normal to be ravenously hungry all the time while breastfeeding? I'm constantly stuffing my face but it never goes away for long. We are 3 months in and I thought I would have my appetite under control by now, but maybe that's not how it works. Is there a magic, healthy-ish food that will keep me from feeling like I'm starving all the time? (on the up side, as of today I have lost all 45 lbs of pregnancy weight, woo hoo!!!)
