Vi only bit me for like two days. Every time I would say "no bite!" really loud and she would pop off and look at me, and after a few times, she just quit doing it.

It usually only lasts a short time. I've tried latching and unlatching until it feels comfortable

I was going to post this exact question last night!!! DS has 6 teeth and I think 2 more are coming in. Just recently I've had this exact issue. It hasn't been so much painful as it has been uncomfortable. This also makes pumping a little bit off too. I'm hoping he gets through this phase soon!

I was told by a lactation consultant that it's normal and they might be slightly scraping you while they get used to the new features of their mouth. It gets better though!!

@joyfulkiwi: Interesting about the extra saliva. I wonder if that happens to us.

@mrs.yoyo: Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I'll try relatching and if I'm still sore, I'll try gel pads. I think I bought some before DS was born - not sure where they are though!

Yes. When LO was teething his latch would change for a little while and sometimes nursing became uncomfortable for a few days. Sometimes relatching helped, sometimes not. But I mostly stuck it out, and if you're sore, the gel pads can work wonders!

F has two bottom and his top two are coming, but I haven't experienced a scraping sensation. I think I read somewhere that a proper latch means the teeth aren't in contact with the nipple?
I have had sore nipples while nursing while he's teething and I think it's from extra saliva. Hopefully it's a one off thing?

So DS has two bottom teeth, two top teeth and is cutting another top tooth. All day today nursing was so painful. He wasn't biting me (which he has done on occasion before), but I could FEEL his teeth the whole time, almost like they were scraping my nipple each time he sucked. I'm hoping today was a fluke because it was pretty painful and I don't want to stop BFing because of this. Has anyone else had a similar experience and/or tips for how to handle this?
