Start out as cross cradle to latch, then switch to cradle. On a boppy, unless we're out.

I can't do the football hold, and he doesn't like side lying :(

I love side-lying! Up until she hit 4 mths it was the only way I could get a real nap out of her, nap with her & nurse her to sleep side-lying. Otherwise we usually do the cradle more with DD sitting on my lap, like you described. I also liked sitting up the one time I tried it but DD still isn't great at grabbing & position my boob do it was kind of difficult since she sits higher than my nipple. Lol

We basically always cradle, but we did do lots of cross-cradle as a newborn before he had good head control.

@Coco Bee: cradle - if u have baby on left boob, head is on your left arm. Cross cradle holds body with right arm. Something like that.

what is the different between cradle and cross cradle?

I side lie a lot and love it. I do it every morning for sure, and if he wakes in the night. I also do it if I'm feeling exceptionally tired.

Others I do cradle. But until he was 4-5 months I did football a ton - he nursed better and had a better grip that way. We continued as long as we could until he got too big.

cradle hold on the boppy. when i first started, football hold was the easiest though.

i would do side by side but never coslept, so when I've tried, she had no idea what to do and just rolled around everywhere.

I love side-by-side nursing at night, with either DS curled up against me or splayed out on his back with just his head turned towards me.

When we're not lying down I usually nurse him in a cradle hold, although sometimes I have him at such an angle that he's more sitting on my lap (diagonally across my body), or on a Boppy.

What's your favorite nursing position?
