I ended up finding a breastpump new elsewhere for cheaper, otherwise I would have registered for it.

As long as you feel comfortable registering for all of that - I say register for as much as you feel you want/need.

I know many moms need lanolin, I didn't but I also had a crazy easy time breastfeeding and that's atypical.

I found soothies gel pads extremely comfortable and they're about $12/pair - not cheap! So I definitely recommend those.

Breast pads for sure - I love my 100% organic cotton pads - they are very absorbent and comfortable.

Nursing bra - if you're comfortable registering for it. I think I may need to invest in a high-quality one and it would have been nice to have either received one or receive the 10% completion discount (go ahead and make a baby registry on amazon just for that if you need to!).

Nursing tank - I find them much more comfortable than bras, especially in the early weeks when I didn't want to wear bras yet.

I LOVE my Dr. Browns GLASS bottles. Not sure if they work with my pump, I never tried it. But he loves them too. But I know they don't work for everyone.

milk storage bags- they sure add up!

A pumping bustier/bra - I wish I had one of these! It would make pumping and doing something else sooo much easier.

Hopefully that helps a little!

I totally recommend having some gel pads on hand (Ameda makes good ones) in case you have significant nipple pain. Lanolin can only do so much.

As for a pump, I recommend renting the hospital pump at first and simply having a manual on hand. Then you can buy the electric once you know BF is going well.

@sorrycharlie: you should check the accessories for each bottle, I just found out that Tommee Tippee has an adaptor so that I can attach it to my pump which I plan onpickimg up next time I'm out

@sorrycharlie: we have a pumping gear guide and a breastfeeding gear guide:

http://www.hellobee.com/2011/09/29/pumping-supplies/
http://www.hellobee.com/2011/10/13/breastfeeding-gear/

as far as other bottles that fit on the pump, these inexpensive ones from gerber fit:

http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-Essential-Plastic-Nurser-Nipple/dp/B00140BE3W

as do the dr browns, but i'm pretty sure avent doesn't fit because it has a wide neck.

i have a double electric and manual, and i never had enough patience to use the manual. i couldn't live without the double electric, otherwise you can never be away from baby for more than a couple hours. well as it is i can't be away from her on the weekends or evenings (only daytime because she will only take bottles from our nanny). but i'm glad that i can at least be away from her for a couple of hours to work, run errands, meet friends, etc.

I second @prettylizy's suggestion to buy a manual pump as back-up. I found it really useful in the early days when I wanted to pump but did not have the time or energy to get all hooked up to the double electric. It was much easier to clean and so quiet, which was nice because sometimes I was pumping at 3am next to a sleeping baby. It was also great for traveling. It's slow, but it does the trick.

Now my LO is 4 months and I just returned to work. I leave my electric pump at the office and I have the manual at home in case of emergencies.

I say register or it, you can at least get the completion discount for yourself that way.
I have a Medea freestyle double electric pump and love it! It comes with a few bottles that fit so I usually pump into those even though she eats from a different bottle
I also bought a Medela manual pump to throw in my bag or for a quickie pump if I'm feeling engorged on one side.
You'll want storage bags for extra milk in the freezer
I have the Tommee Tippee countertop steam sterilizer and it's awesome, it gets used all the time and does a great job
Breast pads are a must, especially at first when your supply is working itself out
I have one tube of lanolin that hasn't been opened yet (thank goodness) but its here just in case
A few different bottles too, every LO is different and will want to nurse from a different bottle. Our LO does really well with the Tommee Tippee bottles.
Hope that helps

I'm curious about this too.. My mom said not to put it on in case I can't breastfeed, but I don't want to have the expense right after the babies are here - especially since I'll need a really good one!

P.S. This is shimmerofheaven from WB... I've finally made the transition over to HB! ;)

I looked around but didn't see anything similar to this - I apologize if I missed it! I'm working on my registry, and thought maybe those of you with experience BFing could lend a hand.

What did you (or should I) put on my registry in regards to BFing?
-Pump?
-Accessories?
-What bottles fit, aside from the same brand as pump?
-Lotions, creams, meds, etc?

Thank you!!
(ps - I'll be staying home for a few months, not working. if that affects pump decision!)
