Ok, thanks y'all. My midwife told me to stick it out and it gets better and I really want to believe it. My supply has taken a hit but she's nursing more frequently and has plenty of wet diapers and is eating 2-3 solid meals a day, so she seems to be ok. I do have a freezer stash in case we need to add in some bottles. Praying that the next few weeks go by quickly. Between the exhaustion and pain, I just want to sleep all day long.

wow...i had no idea that this pain is "common"...i've been experiencing this for a couple of days now and I thought it was because my LO was biting me (even though he has never really bitten me before)...

i hope the pain goes away soon for all of us :)

Yeah, I had nipple pain for a few weeks in the beginning. It wasn't excruciating or anything but hurt when he first latched on. It's much better now at 13 weeks. Although my supply has tanked majorly. :(

It does get better. Nipple sensitivity is common in the beginning. I did the same thing as @Baby Boy Mom: and just tried to keep myself calm and distracted

It gets better! I almost weaned those first few weeks because I was just dreading every feeding but glad I stuck it out. I would just close my eyes and try to think abou something else to distract myself from the aversion.

Yeah it definitely gets easier once you're closer to second trimester. I remember wincing and wanting to yell every single time DS would nurse when I was in the first trimester. Not fun but it will definitely get better. It's getting uncomfortable again (almost 28 weeks) but I don't know if it's because he's teething really bad right now or if it's the pregnancy. Just keep an eye out on your supply if she is not getting formula or other form of milk. I noticed that mine took a big hit almost immediately.

@locavore_mama: My nipple area specifically. I guess it's cause they're tender. It's awful and I'm sure I'm scaring my daughter when I have to take deep breaths when she latches on.

@emg86: where is the pain?
For a while after I got my BFP my uterus area would hurt while nursing. But it subsided after a week or two.

I'm currently 11 weeks 5 days and I haven't experienced pain while nursing in a while.

Someone please tell me it gets better. My girl is 9 months and I'm 7.5w It is SO painful to nurse and I'd like to get her to a year. She hates the bottle and doesn't like milk in a sippy. I never experienced pain issues when she was a newborn so this is new to me. I'm almost in tears every time she nurses cause of the pain :sad:
