Yes, this halpened to me really bad when I was pregnant. I turned out to have a heart defect that made it way worse though.

@delight: Yes! I thought I was crazy. I need to take longer pauses in wordy books to catch my breath. My throat burns too, probably because I don't get enough air.

@BananaPancakes: I asked about this when I first started struggling with the breathlessness, especially since I had a tough time regulating my body temperature during the first trimester. I had the chills for about 8 weeks straight. My doctor said no to anemia or low iron but I am curious if maybe it was overlooked? So sorry you had to deal with that.

Yes to @MrsKoala... I had a tough time with this starting around 10-11 weeks and spoke to my OB at my last appointment. She said it's high progesterone and is nothing to worry about. She mentioned that it will probably get easier as time goes on. It's so uncomfortable and makes me feel totally out of shape which is only partially true :) Just last night I was standing still and could not catch my breath.

Yes, but I was anemic, which they didn't discover until like 22 weeks since it didn't show up in my initial bloodwork. As soon as I got on an iron supplement, I was totally fine. I kept telling them that I didn't think it was normal, and they kept insisting it was, so they apologized when my test results came back.

I have experienced this throughout my entire pregnancy, and I was a runner before getting pregnant, so I was in decent cardiovascular shape. My OB says its normal. I swear even the smallest task can leave me completely winded and my heart rate through the roof. I did develop high blood pressure in the third trimester too, so be wary of that.

Yes - not that I was in marathon running condition before but I felt like my second pregnancy made me instantly the most out of shape person on the planet. I was constantly out of breath.

This happened to me in pregnancy too. Talk to your care provider just to be safe but mine said it was normal due to the increased blood flow pumping and lung capacity changes. But if it's happening all the time they may want further testing just to be sure.

Hello! Anyone else feel completely out of breath doing even the simplest things? I am 14 weeks. Walking up the stairs makes my heart pound, same with standing up too fast, then I am gasping for air. Is this normal??
