A was always between breech and transverse starting at my 20 weeks ultrasound(I'm assuming she was like that before, that's just when they first noticed it) it was so uncomfortable and painful having her that way! I was already having a scheduled csection, so I didn't try to flip her. She was breech at my 38 week appointment but had flipped sometime before my csection at 39 weeks. So you definitely have time!

LO was breech and transverse and regular (with maybe another flip in between bc it is all a hazy memory now) and came out regular at 41 weeks. She flipped a lot which surprised everyone. We opted for no ecv because we knew she could flip a lot after and she did with several changes happening in the last three weeks.

thanks for all the tips!! I've been sitting up super straight (mainly because I can't breathe with a head in my right lung if I don't) and I'm crossing my fingers she'll flip around on her own.

my older DD did some sort of wrestling body flop right onto the baby's head yesterday (she didn't know better, she's 2) and I'm partially hoping that encouraged DD2 to move her head out of the way!!

A was breech and never flipped so I had a c-section at 40 weeks. I didn't attempt an ECV but did try moxi sticks from my acupuncturist that made my house smell like a drug den :silly: It didn't work but we didn't try much because of the smell.

@Snowdrop: mainly I wasn't a candidate for an ECV because I didn't have enough fluid towards the end. But if I was, I wouldn't have had it done. I figured there was a reason he was breech and didn't feel comfortable having it done - there is a very small risk that doing the procedure can send the baby into fetal distress.

@Snowdrop: @Snowdrop: I think the risk for things like that are low here as well. The premature labor may also be caused by contractions or other things past the cord. I think it's a pretty low risk, but one to consider. I'm on the fence as to whether we would have one done. My OB is a pretty straight shooter, so I'll likely just do whatever he recommends!

That sounds like my oldest who was folded in half in my belly for some time, I think, because when he came out his legs were kind of weird looking and going in all directions! LOL! They said it's normal given how he was in my belly - kind of jack-knifed! He never ended up flipping. I just figured he was comfy so he stayed that way.

There are exercises you can do to help him flip. Ask your OB. You're still a little early to do an ECV (usually done around 35 weeks at the latest, I think) but that's usually high risk and has to be done at the hospital in case you go into labor while getting it done. That made my decision easy so I went with a c-section and read up as much as I can about it since I paid zero attention to the c-section part of our 6 hour long class. :\ Anyway, he's 5.5 now and wild as can be. ;)

@Snowdrop: I'm in New Zealand but over here the risk of an ECV resulting in an emergency situation is 0.05%. The OB performing my ECV stressed to me that he would stop as soon as I asked them to. I felt far more comfortable with that level compared to straight out opting for the c-section.

@Snowdrop: they perform an ECV typically under Ultrasound because there is a chance that the cord can get wrapped around the baby's neck while he is being turned. This in turn could cause an emergency C-section. It is a very low risk but certainly one to consider. I personally found my ECV very painful and would not be trying it again, but I also have a short torso which I think made it much more difficult.

LO was breech from around 27-28 weeks and stayed that way till my c section at 38 weeks. Turns out the cord was wrapped around her neck twice (I know it's common and usually not a problem, but that was the likely reason she didn't budge and an ECV attempt could have gone emergency pretty quickly). I could see her head pushing out at the top of my belly towards the end.

I'm so curious as to where my baby is hanging out right now! She was breech not that long ago as well, and I definitely can tell when she's stretched and is transverse.

@Snowdrop: I was told that ECV can trigger labor, so you need to be prepared for that possibility. That's the #1 reason I will likely not pursue it if it comes down to that.

You still have time! A lot of babies flip late.

My DS was frank breech the entire pregnancy and never ended up turning. He was literally wedged in there - poor guy had no room. I ended up getting a scheduled csection 2 days before my due date. I declined having the ECV procedure done because I didn't feel comfortable with it.

I also have a long torso, but he still did not flip.

My lo flipped herself breech at around 34 weeks but was successfully turned via ECV at around 38 weeks. It took less than 30 seconds for the OB to turn Baby (he said it was the fastest and easiest ECV he'd ever done -made his day!) but I could often feel her going transverse so I think she'd been trying to flip back.
