@Mrsk: I'm sorry it didn't work out mama. You are very right that maybe there's a reason. With my first even after a long labour and pushing for an hour he wasn't moving and I needed a c-section. It turns out the cord was around his neck, twice so the c-section was the best option for his safe arrival after all. It's hard when things don't go as planned but whatever birth you get, it will be special because it's YOUR birth  . Best of luck with meeting your little one, regardless of the fashion it happens!

Just to update, baby is stubborn and not moving. :crying: Im feeling pretty disappointed. I rationally know there could be a very good reason it won't turn, but was so hoping to a vaginal birth. Fingers crossed it turns on its own before 39 weeks when they have scheduled me for a c section. Thanks for all your input ladies. Glad I took the morning off and I should be good to go back for the afternoon.

@Mrsk: I felt fine after my successful ECV and could've gone to work had I not already been on maternity leave. I was given subutimol / ventolin to relax my uterus and it didn't have any negative effect on me. Good luck!

I had a failed ECV but don't foresee you needing to take the day off. The pain is in the moment, and not residual.

I would take the day but I'm lucky enough to have vacation days and a flexible work place. It's good that you have a back up, just in case. I hope the procedure goes well for you! Let us know how it goes :goodluck:

hmmm, ok, so much to think about! There was no mention of drug or medication so I'm assuming not, maybe?? I'm a teacher and have a sub lined up for the morning while I go to the procedure, and have someone on stand by for the afternoon, just in case I'm not feeling up to going back and dealing with my little grade 1 students!
thanks so much ladies for your input!

At my hospital they actually make you deliver immediately if the procedure is successful, that way the baby doesn't flip back around!

@Truth Bombs: okay, so I wasn't wrong - my doctor did say that they'd place an epidural. Since it didn't happen, I thought I was remembering wrong, I started to type it but stopped because I didn't know if that was correct, haha

If they're going to place an epidural, you'll need the day off. It takes hours to wear off.

I would not! I had a successful one and can't think of any reason to spend an entire day at home afterward. Mine was super quick and then they did the not stress test afterward, but you should be back to work within 2 hours. Save the day to spend with your baby once he or she arrives!

I would plan on taking off. If something happened, or if you were feeling lousy it will be nice not to have to worry about calling in. If you feel fine, then you can either go in or take a day to spend some you time.

I would probably plan to take the day off. This is a little different but my friend went in at 39 weeks and the plan was the place the epidural, attempt an ECV, and if it didn't work, move ahead with a c-section. Well her baby did NOT do well with the ECV and they ending up having to rush her into the ER and do the c-section right away. I know that's absolute worst case scenario, and it's different since she was farther along, but since you never know how these things can go I would just not plan on being at work.

Will they be giving you meds to do it?
I know my doctor talked about medications to relax the muscles. Baby turned on his own, so we never got there but I don't think I'd be able to plan for work if I was on any sort of muscle-relaxing medication.

I'm 36 weeks and provided that baby is bum down not feet down, tomorrow morning I'm having an ECV. I know success rates are varied and am well aware of the risks and we have decided to go forward with it.

My question is, after your ECV, did you feel like going into work afterward? (regardless if successful or not) Mines at 7am tomorrow morning, and I'm just wondering if I should plan to take the rest of the day off, or will I feel fine to go into work?

Thanks in advance?
