@locavore_mama: good job to your baby girl! I so want a foodie (like me). But she is showing major signs of being a picky eater (like her dad). Food & solids surprising has been my toughest new mom vent!

This is one of my parenting goals. Little man is only 6 months old right now but I am definitely hoping he takes after me in the eating department and not his dad. We are both adventurous but DH finds a lot less paletable while I love a wide variety of things.

@looch: yea, I don't know if it's us or just luck that -so far- she's not picky! But I will say when I was young I was only exposed to home cooked Chinese food! My exposure of American food was what I saw on TV and ball park franks (yuck!). And also amazing dominican food my upstairs tenant made me almost every night! hehe

DH didn't even have crappy chinese food till he was 16! Before that it was all american or italian. So all hope is not lost! ;)

He tries everything and even if he spits it out he tries it. He likes some interesting things (all fish, all beans, spicy stuff) and hates some kid things (chicken tenders). We love food and try to introduce him to everything. He doesn't like closed food that much (dumplings, closed sandwiches).

Haha, my husband is a major foodie and he wasn't raised with exposure to much cuisine, so I think as long as everyone's having fun with it, it's totally cool.

I have a picky eater, and it's super frustrating. I feel like I got the baby annoyance trifecta of picky eater, poor sleeper and stubborn!

Having a picky eater is one of my biggest fears (aside from medical issues and stuff). A couple of my nieces/nephews are and it is so frustrating for their parents and I know it would drive me crazy. I would rather have a baby that doesn't sleep well, or who is super shy before a picky eater!

DD loves everything she was eating spicy foods when she was 5 months old. I ate super spicy foods when I was pregnant with her. She has not turned her nose up to anything and tries everything. She had some sashimi recently and loved it.

she does dislike chicken nuggets/chicken fingers but will eat it if we make her.

J loves spicy!
but he's super picky - and not in the pizza, pasta, juice/toddler way. he loves Indian food, but hates mac and cheese. he loves edamame but hates broccoli and carrots, hates tomato sauce but loves pesto.
My mom always thinks she's going to cook him this amazing meal, like a veggie lasagna and he totally turns up his nose.
we keep trying!

@GrapeCrush: @locavore_mama: LO can eat Indian food if it isn't spicy. Last weekend she had naan and some sort of fried fish at a birthday party.

@Bookish: LO and i have sushi dinner dates. She loooves unagi, tempura, and udon soup. Unfortunately, she eats a lot so dinner for 2 really is dinner for 2!

LO doesn't like spicy food either, so it's killing the Korean in me. :P But she loves eating out - especially for dim sum, japanese or italian food. She surprised me last weekend by eating some lox from our bagel! Despite some picky tendencies, she is open to eating different types of foods.

So far, she eats absolutely everything with great relish. I hope it continues but I'm prepared for some setbacks once we get into toddlerhood.

She's 11 months and loves curries, spicy kimchi, Thai food, fish, Nepalese, Mexican etc. you name it, she LOVES it. I hope it keeps going this way!

@locavore_mama: Nice! I think LO eats better lunches than I do since it's provided. When we picked him up to go to my parents' house, he was finishing up a pita bread pizza. I was seriously jealous. Usually in the morning, we go through his sleep and eating patterns so they're aware if sleep could be a problem or if he's hungry. She seemed surprised that he ate fish and liked it. He's had tilipia, tuna fish, shrimp, and salmon a bunch of times already. Part of it could be that I like fish, so we eat a lot of it at home.
