We brought DD who was 26 months at the time, she got a little bored, but she knows baby sister is on the way and we could say "that's baby sis" on the screen.

We brought her and it worked out well! She was a peach and I was so proud! Of course she turned into a maniac when it was time to go outside and she had to put her coat on.... :)
We acted it out in advance and talked about it lots. Rachel Fuller's book (for kids), Waiting For Baby, was also helpful as there is an illustration of a mom getting an ultrasound and we spent a lot of time yesterday looking at that page.
Thanks everyone for your advice!

We brought DS to most of my appointments, and the OB loved it. Once or twice he did want to climb up on the table with me, which was unusual, he is really daddy's boy but I think he was a bit concerned about me. But for all of my ultrasounds, he was there and it was no problem. He was around 15 mos at my anatomy scan and just drove his matchbox trucks around the table.

I've brought DD to all my appointments so far because I don't have childcare and DH wants to go too. We bring lots of snacks and entertainment for her and she does just fine!

We brought DD to our first appointment and US at 8 weeks because all the grandparents were out of town. She did fine, though got pretty antsy by the end.

We brought E for my anatomy ultrasound, who was only 15 or 16 months at the time. He was really cute. He "talked" to the screen the entire time!

We brought DS to most of my ultrasounds and it was fine! He liked looking at the screen and would wave to his brother. It was actually really cute. Of course he kept DH busy but really wasn't a problem.

We did! Mine was almost 2, we brought a bunch of things for him to do and snacks (lollipop FTW!!!) he got a little upset with me on the table, but he sat by my head and held my hand and did fine. Worst case, like you said, my husband was ready to take him outside, but it wasn't necessary.

I think it's fine to bring her since your husband will be there to handle her.

Bring a rewritable DVD to record your ultrasound (lots of sonos will do this for you). That way, if your husband is distracted, he can watch more closely later via the DVD.

With this pregnancy my son has been at about 5 of our ultra sounds. He has to come with me when we don't have child care. He is a bit older (3 1/2) and he will just watch or play something on the phone (with headphones). So he was barely phased. I don't see anything wrong with it, but you have to know your own kid.

My kiddo also flips out seeing me in medical situations without a lot of warning. When I hAd to bring him for my glucose test and rho gam shot, I made sure to prep him and explain what would happen which helped tremendously.

@merriment: Yeah, I have never heard anyone else say their kid had that reaction, so it really caught us by surprise! Overall it was totally fine having him there, I just wasn't expecting him to get upset. Good luck!

Our lo has come to all of mine. We put him in the stroller so he would be contained, and it was no issue at all. He is 21 months now and I am 31 weeks. I have weekly appointments for shots and he comes to all of those too. No biggie, and the nurses love seeing him :)

I also wouldn't want DH to miss it, so I'd bring her. But I do know our hospital does not allow kids under 6 at anatomy scans, so I'd check on that first. Also, if you do bring her, definitely bring distractions. We brought our 2 yr old to our first dating scan and he got very upset seeing me laying on the table - totally surprised us.

My daughter's daycare is closed tomorrow and my husband will be watching her. I also have an early anatomy scan scheduled for tomorrow morning. We don't have family around, so it's a question of bringing my 2 1/2 year old, or my husband misses the sonogram. We hate the idea of my husband missing out. My daughter sort of gets the idea that there is a baby coming, but its obviously all sort of murky for her. Is bringing her a terrible idea? I'm only 17 weeks, so it's still pretty early. Obviously if she freaks out or can't handle it, they will just leave... But I'm scared of getting bad news and being alone but also getting bad news and being with my daughter.... Any advice???? Thanks!!!
