@avivoca: Thank you! I finally did get a little better sleep last night! about 1-2 hour stretches at a time. And a lot more productive coughing when I had to wake up. Thought I'd sry it again for a nap today, but the Vicks didn't seem to do much. Woke up after 20 min. hacking and coughing so hard I threw up my whole lunch and had major heartburn. Waiting for the Tylenol PM to kick in tonight.

@travellingbee: Thank you. That sounds like a miserable experience too. Yes, the coughing seems to never end. Even when I think I'm about to finally kick it. :(

@bluestriped bee: Thank you.

Aww, man. That is rough. I'm so sorry that you are dealing with bronchitis while you are pregnant. I had bronchitis earlier this year and I was miserable. I can't imagine having it while pregnant. I don't have any advice but did want to tell you that I'm thinking of you.

You poor thing! I had RSV at 32ish weeks with DS. I (and DH too) had a high fever and coughing so hard I thought I'd broken a rib and was afraid I'd out myself into labor. I wasn't on an antibiotic because it was viral so I took tons of mucinex and lived in my steamy bathroom or bed. Not that you can do that with a toddler so I totally feel for you. Coughs take forever to go away too :(

@shopaholic: I am so sorry you are going through this! I hope you were able to get some sleep. I did not have bronchitis, but I had a really bad cold at 37 weeks. I was coughing so much that I couldn't sleep and was swaying so bad from tiredness at my appointment that they told me to take a sick day. The midwife recommended Tylenol PM to help me sleep and Robotussin (which it sounds like you have tried), but maybe the Tylenol PM would help you sleep?

@SleepyMonkey: Thanks for sharing! Yes I haven't tried sudafed yet. Neither doctor mentioned it. And I dont think s stimulant sounds good, but something to knock me out so I can sleep does!

@pinkb: oh man, sounds like you had it bad too! I forgot to list Mucinex, but I do take that in the day. After hearing about my sleep troubles, a pharmacist told me to avoid it at night. I'm going to ask about getting a breathing treatment this week. Sounds helpful - not sure if it's only and ER option?

@matador84: have you ever had one done and where?

@Rocker2014: am taking Mucinex and Tylenol Pm which has benedryl in it told. Thank you!

@Corduroy: thank you for sharing. I can't believe your hmo denied treatment like that! I did read if I go into labor the adrenaline would likely kick in and replace the illness. One can hope? If im still this miserable.

@FannyMae: ouch! Sorry you're getting sick too. We have the humidifier running constantly and through the night. And taking robotics in DM as well.

Trying the vick's vaporub on the soles tonight and praying for some relief!

Just seen this thread as I'm coughing my guts up this morning. I'm nowhere near as bad as what you're going through right now, I feel for you :( I've just started taking amoxycillin and robitussin to help break up the phlegm, and have the humidifier running all night. no vomiting or peeing myself, but my gosh my stomach muscles and ribs feel like they're at breaking point.

Ugh, I'm sorry. I had a bad cough at the end of my pregnancy earlier this year. I was also vomiting & peeing but not as frequently as you. I don't think it was bronchitis but I don't even know because my HMO refused to see me for the cough without a fever. My OB couldn't believe it. After two months of coughing stuff up my OB even called to get me an appointment and I was still refused. I got the most relief from hot showers (sorry drought).

My cough finally improved about week 38. My OB was concerned about my lack of weight gain - hard when everything tastes like pleghm and you're vomiting - but baby was fine. My labor was super fast so I don't recall the cough impacting it at all. After delivery I didn't feel sick at all.

Hang in there mama!

Ugh, I just remembered that I threw up in my mouth during a meeting at work around week 36. Guess, I was blockig that out. Hugs, that ish is awful. Soon it will all be a disgusting memory!

Oh no! Plain mucinex is pregnancy safe and saved me in a similar situation when I was 35 weeks pregnant. I also took benadryl, not sure if that helped but it knocked me out enough that I slept through some of the coughing fits.

I wanted to add that my Dr told me that if I was wheezing at all that I should go in to the ER and they would give me a breathing treatment. In my googling while I was sick it seemed like that really helped some pregnant ladies! I never ended up going in even though I think there were a couple nights I should have. Maybe that could be an option?

I had bronchitis 3 times with DS the last time was 37 weeks. I am so sorry you re going through it, it is impossible! I thought I would never stop peeing my pants from coughing. The z pack seemed to help me but I also took musinex which seemed to help if I continued to take it. And sleep, lots of sleep. It did not affect my delivery at 40 weeks at all, still had a cough and some chest congestion but it was all ok. DS was born with little white bubbles all over his body, they chalked it up to him having a virus in utero, they really didn't have much to say about it, and he was perfectly healthy. These babies just suck the life out of us! I hope you feel better soon!

Oh you poor thing! That sounds so awful. I had a terrible cough before i delivered but it wasn't bronchitis but caused by post nasal drip. So when i took sudafed, it helped me not cough. But sudafed is a stimulant so it kept me up too. I was extra tired for labor because i wasn't sleeping, but i got thru it. Then my ob prescribed me some heavy duty cough syrup so i could sleep in the hospital. I also was wearing depends because i peed every time i coughed. It was so miserable. I am so sorry, it sounds like you have it way worse than i do. Your immune system is weak because you are pregnant so it takes so much longer to recover. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm 36 weeks today and in my 3rd week of Bronchitis. I've taken Zithromax (Z-pak), Delsyum, Robitussin DM, asthma inhalers, cough drops, and Promethezine with Codeine, without much relief whatsoever. In fact, I feel like the past week I've gotten worse. My OB actually sent me to Urgent Care this week, but they also didn't think there was anything more they could give me. A second round of antibiotics doesn't really seem like the solution - especially since the first round didn't do anything.

I've been living on sleep in 20-40 minute increments. I'm coughing so hard I throw up everything I eat and need to wear & constantly change pads because I gush pee with every coughing attack. I even have to carry a cup or bag for throwing up while driving or when we go out for a short while. Sorry to be so graphic, but my quality of life is just wretched at the moment. I've spent so much time hurled over, gasping for air, and not being able to watch LO as well as I should.

Has anyone else experienced bronchitis late in pregnancy? Anything for relief? Did it affect the pregnancy? I'm actually concerned I'm going to go into labor still coughing, vomiting, and gasping for air and how the heck I'll make it through?!
