I think a yogurt bar of sorts would be cute and an easy way to serve the yogurt. Just have the plain yogurt in cups and have containers with granola, fruit and other toppings (chocolate chips, raisins, idk?) :)

If you want to do little yogurt parfaits, dump your yogurt in a gallon ziploc, snip the corner off, and squeeze your yogurt into the cups instead of spooning it. So much faster!

@regberadaisy: @rattles: My four-year-old won't eat bacon or sausage either! So weird!

@Cole: We did a brunch birthday for LO1 this past March. We had:
fruit
bacon (Trader Joe's ends and pieces, done in the oven...a huge hit)
this Smitten Kitchen strata (always popular, takes care of having an egg dish, prepped the night before) http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2009/12/spinach-and-cheese-strata/
Pioneer Woman cinnamon rolls
Trader Joe's Coffee Cake (made the night before)

I think having the fruit in a serving bowl is a good idea. My kid is picky, so if there's blueberry or melon in her cup, it's going to go to waste. At least if I serve her from a big dish, I can leave what she doesn't care for for others.

I agree with others that 1 or 2 more savory/meat items would round out your menu nicely.

Sounds delicious!! My go to brunch (if you're looking for more ideas) is :

Bacon quiche
Hashbrown casserole
Egg/ham/cheese casserole
Some type of salad
Fruit salad
Coffee Cake
Sugared donut holes
Orange Frothy smoothie type drink

I literally make the exact same thing every time we have a brunch celebration of some sort haha. The Hashbrown casserole is especially easy and can be made ahead. It's always a huge hit!

I would just buy a bunch of Yo baby yogurts and set them on ice. If you want to set out fruit and granola for it, go nuts!

What about monkey bread instead of cinnamon rolls? Less work, just as good. Or donuts

@regberadaisy: Mine doesn't like sausage or bacon :silly: I agree that it would be yummy though!

We did brunch at DD1, 2nd birthday party. I had a two week old too at the time, so the emphasis was on easy but tasty. We had: spinach/mushroom quiche and quiche Lorraine, a savory egg casserole (made the night before), chocolate croissants (from Trader Joes), fruit salad, a fruit pizza (sugar cookie base, cream cheese, fruit decorated for the theme of her party), banana bread, coffee, mimosas/OJ and birthday cake.

Cinnamon roll cake pops sound both adorable and like way more work than they're worth!

Mini quiche (in muffin liners) are great, it's a staple in our house. They also freeze well. You can bake the night before and simply reheat in the oven.
I think I've seen French toast casseroles in crockpots before.

As for the fruits, what month is the party? probably just do the parfait in a trifle dish and call it a day. Seems like so much wasted individual cups! Or maybe do the parfaits in individual cups and the fruit in a big bowl?

For me personally, I want some baked treats(croissants, muffins, etc), eggs (there are a few guests in our family that won't eat quiche!) and bacon or sausage. You have no meat!
Your menu might be iffy for a picky toddler. But I don't know a toddler that doesn't like sausage or bacon! :)

And some non alcoholic beverages like orange juice. Coffee I assume?

I am at excited to be planning my lo's first birthday! We are doing brunch and I could use some help with the menu. I would really appreciate any suggestions that I can do ahead of time time because as much as I hate the idea we will also have house guests that weekend.

The plan is:
Mimosa and body Mary bar
French toast casserole
Quiche
Cinnamon rolls (I saw these done as cake pops and I am considering that option.)
Fruit in mini cups (the cups are pretty tiny so I think I will do three fruits and just do one fruit per cup, so blueberries, strawberries and...)
Birthday cake

I also like the idea of yogurt parfaits, little individual ones look so sweet but I am worried about the time it would take. Could be an easy thing to delegate though...

We will have a bunch of toddlers here, does this look like it would work for them? Maybe I will make cereal necklaces too.

Any other good ideas? Suggestions on ways to cook ahead?
