Hi @LittleBook: I feel ya girl! I went off of BC last July and the acne came full force by August. I was on BC for about 10+ years - clearest skin ever when I was on it. Anyway, my nodule/cystic acne is mostly on my jaw up to my ears, neck, chest, and back - totally hormonal. 3 weeks ago I decided to give up dairy, refined sugar, gluten, and focus on a low glycemic diet in hopes it would help. So far I've noticed I have not been as inflamed, fewer nodules, and I feel great. Midwife said it could take a couple months to see results. A gf of mine told me tea tree products worked for her which I'm planning on trying. CeraVe and Cetaphil face wash seems to help best in combination with my Clarisonic. Hang in there you are not alone!

after having DS i would constantly get really painful underground acne cysts on my chin. breakouts in that area of your face are supposed to be 100% caused by hormones. the only thing i've found to work for them is renee rouleau anti-cyst treatment.

I had the same thing happen to me. I sought out some sulphur based acne treatments from sephora which worked pretty well. kate somerville makes a good line. And it was pretty pregnancy friendly too.

@MaryM: I just printed a coupon for a CeraVe product online, Thank you!

I'm sure my diet doesn't help my problem (Christmas cookies and chocolates are FINALLY gone.) Hopefully eating a bit healthier, using CeraVe products and taking Vitex will help!

Thank you everyone!

Oh, and since then, I've been seeing a doctor that monitors hormones as a way of treating IF and childloss, and now I mostly get one or maybe two pimples around ovulation and when my period starts. Otherwise, since they're more balanced things are MUCH clearer

I went through this when I quit BCP right before my wedding (of course)

One thing to look out for, my dermatologist said saylicylic acid was actually making my break outs worse because it was over drying my skin, causing it to produce even more oil. He suggested I use CeraVe products and they've helped a lot. I have really sensitive skin and am prone to acne and eczema and they've helped a ton (I guy the generic versions at Target or CVS)

@LittleBook: no the opposite I think it helped. I was taking it to balance my hormones a bit it started to clear up while I was taking but when I stopped my hormones were better balanced themselves so I think that's why it cleared up more then.

Thanks everyone! It really is awful/embarrassing!

@Banana330: did the vitex make it worse? Would you recommend not taking it?

Does anyone know of any prenatal vitamins that will help with acne?

No advice, but sympathy - my acne is controlled by birth control, so when I went off to TTC, it all came back at once. The bad news is that my hormones went even crazier once I got pregnant, so I broke out more - finding a good tinted moisturizer was a necessity.

Pretty much right after I got my IUD out.. I had a weird patch of ance/rash on my chin. I took vitex for a few months and then stopped.. once I stopped it was totally cleared up.

@LittleBook: Definitely go to a dermatologist - when I was off the pill in the past, my skin also was no good, and one round of antibiotics did the trick (and my skin has been good again ever since).

Not really . But if you find anything let me know because I'm going through the same thing. I have been using clinque acne cleanser which did help a bit but it won't be good to use once I get pregnant so I need a better alternative.

I recently went off the pill (in September) and my skin has been AWFUL ever since. I feel like a teenager again, but worse because I have been on the pill since I was 15 years old.

I know this is due to hormones. Does anyone have any tips?
