My son had BAD reflux when he was a baby. So much so that we ended up taking him to the emergency room in the middle of the night because he was spitting up all night long. He used to spit out of his nose all the time and it always freaked me out. He also would spit up in the middle of the night and make these choking/gurgling noises so I would basically stay up all night monitoring him like a hawk. We put him on Zantac which helped. We also did a lot of exercises to push out his gas. I think the gas made it a lot worse. We did bicycle legs and lots of tummy time. For sleep, we bought him the nap nanny, which we LOVED and it was a life saver for us. It allowed us to get some sleep because it reduced the night time choking/gurgling. I also nursed him in a more upright position and held him upright afterwards for 15 mins. I basically never laid him down! He outgrew it at around 3 or 4 months. But those 3/4 months were so hard!

Our slept in swings too. We tried a wedge but the, seemed to always slip down it and be curled up all funny. We found the swings to be much better. I even readjusted them while they were eating so they were sitting a little more. We also carried them in carriers on our chests until they fell asleep for awhile, mine had colic though so we were also battling the three hours of dual crying I think people whose kids don't have colic don't need the walking just sitting up time after eating.

Our biggest help was not putting her flat on her back after eating, and it sounds like you're already doing that. So glad that you got him diagnosed, hopefully the meds will help!

We used Gerber Good Start Gentle. I think there are other formulas out there that are better for reflux, but this worked good for us because she also had constipation issues so we couldn't use anything too thick.

When we thought our son had reflux, we cut out all dairy. We ended up cutting dairy and soy out of our diets. Ultimately MSPI was the reason he had reflux. He cut out all reflux meds etc at 6 months old.

Awh, reflux is so awful :( My LO was on baby Zantac for the first four months of her life. We kept her upright for at least 15 minutes after each feeding - we found that if we did that, we could lie her flat in the basinet and she was okay. On especially challenging nights, we had her sleep in her car seat or bouncer. It got a lot better by the time she was about 4.5 months old, and we were able to stop the meds around 5 months. Good luck! Hope they feel better soon.

I don't have advice about products to stop the spitting, but my boy doesn't go anywhere without his muslin blanket because it will soak up an entire day of spit-up and still look great. I have 3 and I rotate them one per day and then they get washed.

One of my boys has been diagnosed with reflux and is on Zantac, and I suspect that the other has a touch of it too. On more than one occasion today, both boys had spit up coming out of their noses! My poor little guys. :(

Any suggestions for me for my boys? They both currently sleep in their bouncy seats, their changing pad is angled, we don't lay them flat for any reason, etc.

Did you use a certain formula? What about crib wedges? I just want to make my boys comfortable again!
