@lawbee11: i totally agree, i've only been a mom for 7 weeks. before i had LO, even while i was pregnant, i would have thought this couple was crazy for going through all this knowing their child won't survive - i would have thought, why not terminate and try again? now, i totally understand the desire to meet their child and hold him for even a couple of minutes. there was one picture especially that really got me - the one where the mom is holding the baby and kissing his little hand - i do this with my LO frequently while nursing him and it's such a special moment that i am so happy that this mom got to experience it, even for just a couple of hours.

Wow such a sad story. I hope they get a rainbow baby (I hope that's the correct usage of that) when they are ready.

@lawbee11: I couldn't agree with you more. I have to actively avoid reading up on things like this because it just really depresses me and makes me SO sad to even think about. I can't even fathom it.

I of course saw it pop up on facebook today and read the article and now I just want to go pick my baby up at daycare and snuggle her. Reading it has made me feel really guilty today about the fact that I love my job and want to work instead of spending every waking moment with her, even though I know working allows me to be the best mother I can be.

My cousin had a twin pregnancy where one of the boys was diagnosed with anencephaly and the other had no development issues. She found out at 16 weeks and decided to carry the pregnancy as far as she could, enjoying her time with the boys.
They were born at 24 weeks. Morgan passed shortly after birth. Andrew will be three years old this month.
Reading this story on FB, HB, seeing it on the local news brings up all the emotions all over again. We're so blessed to have these angels for the short time we have with them. :crying:

It's stories like this that make me realize just how much becoming a mother has changed me. Before I had LO I obviously would've thought this story was sad, but now...I want to leave work and go hold my baby. I can't imagine what this family is going through. It's just too painful to even think about.

I was reading about this last night while she was in labor. How incredibly heartbreaking, yet such an amazing story of two parents who love their baby with their whole hearts and enthusiastically do so much for their child before it's even born. Makes all of my problems and gripes seem so ridiculous. Going to hug my babies so much tighter tonight. God bless this couple for being such an inspiration.

@Mamaof2: It was this part that absolutely broke me: "Shane spent his entire life in the arms of people that loved him unconditionally and I don't think you could ask for a more beautiful life then that"
The strength that family showed... it's nothing short of awe inspiring.
