Yes, you definitely do need to find a builder you trust. We were lucky in that regard (though you still need to stay on top of them -- we just found ours putting a window where it didn't belong. They would have figured it out sooner or later, but still).</p> <p>Yes, picking out everything is fun, but it's time-consuming. I've been meeting with them like once a week for the past month with no end in sight, LOL. Also, you need to be prepared for the fact that the things you want won't always be within your allowances, which means you'll want to upgrade, which means even more $$$$. We have a few in mind and have yet to go through model homes but its definitely what we plan to do in the near future. There are good builders out there, but a lot of quick-fix types too. You need to know what you want and be firm about it.
