@Pirouette: Same here.

For me, my left breast never really responded to the pump. Right boob had a super fast, strong let down, but will go longer between let downs, so LO gets a bit frustrated with it. Left boob produces less for the pump, and lets down slower when she nurses, but is a more consistent stream for as long as she wants to nurse, so she prefers that when she's comfort nursing.

totally normal! my LO seems to prefer the "bum" boob when she's really tired or just wants to comfort suck...so it's actually kinda nice having one that's a little less full!

i just went a week of mostly feeding on the bum boob and now they are much more even. you just have to be careful not to ignore the good producer, because then you have a supply problem :)

Na you're not alone. My right side was always less "pumpable" if that makes sense. Supply was fine for as long as my LO nursed but it was always harder to get the milk out of that side. What helped for me was to do my regular 15-18' pumping sessions and then only connect the right side and amp up the suction level for 2-3' on that side. That always helped me get nearly the same amount out on both sides.

My right boob always made significantly more milk than my left. By 10 months or so I just gave up on the left boob. By that point I was rarely engorged so the size difference isn't as noticeable. Your good side can definitely handle the demand, don't worry!
If you don't want to go the path I did (which does have its downsides), I think you can try to boost the other side by adding additional pumping/nursing sessions, or pumping longer on that side.

Totally normal! My left is the lazy one. Treat them both equally if you want to maintain supply in both. It's so tempting to be like "well, I'm only getting an ounce, why bother pumping on that side?"

Hi guys. Its been a LONG time since I have been here, but I have a question on breastfeeding, and could't think of a better place to go to ask :)

I have been EBF my daughter for 3 mnths now. I have to pump while I am at work (a 12 hour night shift). Lately, my right breast has been less then stellar on producing milk. Sometimes I only get like an ounce out of it.

Why?! Is this normal? Am I drying up in the one breast? Is there anything I can do?

Please tell me I'm not alone!
