G loooooves this Mamas and Papas Snug Seat with activity tray. I'm not sure how long it will be useful, but it has an insert that we can take out. Also, sometimes we pop the toy off and put it on the floor. Seriously, she's obsessed with it. Even if we only get a few months' use out of it, it is worth it! We don't have any other gear for her at this point (bouncer, exersaucer, swing, RnP), so we decided it was a good investment.

Bumbo's are useful for a pretty short period of time, so I'd go with something else. He may be too small for the exersaucer/jumperoo seat but you can probably pad it with blankets or towels.

Mine loved the excersaucer. It lived in the kitchen and she played in there when I cooked. I'd borrow or get it used though, since it's such a short term thing.

Jumparoo will get way more use. The boppy is a good substitute for a bumbo.

At 3 months we were rocking the Bumbo & she loved it! The jumperoo got more use when she was 5/6 months. I'd recommend both!

@spaniellove: whatever you get, if you can get it used or borrow I would suggest it! LO got an exersaucer and a jumparoo from different set of grandparents and I hate storing them and lugging them around in a recent move kinda sucked too! Plus if LO doesn't like it you won't feel like you spent megabucks on one.

We like the Jumperoo and the doorway bouncer.

Jumperoo is nice because it can go anywhere. I like that I can take it into the yard, and she can play around while I garden.

The doorway jumper is nice while I'm vacuuming or we want her to burn off a little energy before bed.

We also bought one of the cheap IKEA high chairs. It fits through all of the doors, and she's happy to sit in in (with a toy or two) while I cook, shower, get ready, and clean.

We haven't used any of those (LO is 7 months) because I am paranoid about the hip and developmental issues they are purported to cause (his dad has hip issues). But I am sure it's fine if you don't just put them in there for hours on end. :)

LO loved the Bjorn balance at about that age. He loved it until he was about 6 months old. It's expensive, but I found one second-hand.

We have them all (all second hand and will be sold ASAP as we are done with them), the jolly jumper is definitely the fave, and it's great to take with us when visiting grandparents or whoever! The exersaucer is great if you can get one that converts to an S when the start cruising! Jumperoo a definite fave, but not as long lasting as jolly jumper, nor portable! We have a Mamas and Papas equivalent of the bumbo and my 22m DD still uses it (DS is 3.5m and loves it) so it's a lot of temporary gear, but all goes to good use in this house!

Jumperoo for sure :) It was my daughter's favorite thing ever at that age {and up until about 10 months) and I got it so that she could sit up without her head leaning on anything. We really loved the baby einstein jumper

Of those options i would say jumperoo, but we didnt get any of them and lo was just fine :) we used his play gym and other than that propped him up with a boppy or in our lap. He got time in jumper things when he went to the gym nursery, spent a lot of time in the stroller on walks, and i wanted him to have as much wiggle time as possible when we were at home (without being restrained by any baby-holding device) Plus, they are expensive, bulky, and very short lived. But we are pretty minimalist, and i know we arent the norm :)

Maybe a doorway bouncer? We borrowed a super seat and if I had to get an infant-seat type product I would pick that one since it also doubles as a booster.

Of all those options my LO loved the jumparoo the most but the exersaucer is the most long lasting since they can use it longest. I personally don't think I would ever get much use out of the bumbo since there's no "entertainment factor."

J is 3 months tomorrow and getting better at sitting up with support, and his hearing aids make an awful screeching noise when he's too close to anything so I need to find somewhere for him to sit without anything behind his head.

From this point on do you think we'd get the most use out of a Bumbo/Bebepod? Or an exersaucer/jumperoo? (Really wasn't planning on getting one of those, but...) Or something else I'm not thinking of? Until then I'm propping him up on a modified Boppy!
