@CottonCandy: PHEW! So glad to hear there's nothing to worry about. I've had swollen lymph nodes from an infection and they are definitely painful so I'm sure your LO doesn't like the area to be touched but it should go away soon enough!

Both of my LOs have these large lumps on the back of their heads. I was so worried about it with DD, and when I finally got the nerve to ask the ped about it, she said it was nothing. It turns out they have a weird head shape (inherited from my dad, apparently)! I hope it is nothing for your LO!

I can't tell whether it's on the scalp or not in your case but my son had one on his scalp, a small hard one, and it was a type of growth (can't remember what it was called) related to a hair follicle. It was nothing to worry about but they told us we should get it removed when he was older. But then when he got older it somehow disappeared!

First thing I was going to say was lymph node. I had the same freak out when I felt it ! Good you are getting it checked out since your LO doesn't like having it touched but try not to worry !! I'm sure it's fine !

I am a worry wart, so this is literally making me SICK with worry. Last night my DH was putting LO to bed and noticed a lump/bump on the back of LO's head (on the right hand side close to the neckline). When he told me about it, I immediately started googling what it could be and I came up with a alot of "lymph node" posts on the internet. Problem is, its not a small squishy pea sized lump. Its rather hard, and LO clearly doesn't like it being touched. I called the doc and we have an appt. for tomorrow AM. All these worries are running through my head like a blod clot....tumor...everything! Ughhh I just want to hear it is nothing and LO is fine!
