i bought two breathable bumpers because the design of charlie's crib made it so that he needed two short pieces instead of the long one and short one it comes with. we kept it on his crib until he was 2! now olive has it on her crib.

We gave in and started using the bumpers that came with her bedset when she was around 4 mths old, she was also getting her limbs caught. So far no issues with them

@LivsMama: haha I bet it will be an "oh duh" moment for me, as well. Right now I just have it on the front of the crib - where she normally jams her feet out.

@looch: great. That's what we have. :/

It took me several times to figure out the breathable bumper but I finally got it. I never used a regular one because the older she gets, the more she squishes against it (face, body, limbs and all.) Make sure there is some overlap. I can take pics of mine tonight so you can see how its on there. Once it finally clicked I was like "oh duh..." lol

I too have a breathable bumper, I couldn't get it to fit correctly in our crib (Ikea Gulliver) so I gave up and used the regular bumper with no issues.

I use a breathable bumper that I plan on removing soon. She has figured out how to smoosh them down!

My nanny LOs used traditional bumpers.

I have a breathable and found it much easier to install watching the YouTube video!

haha - it was a pain to figure out. I found it key to look at the pictures and make sure you're installing it for the right kind of crib.

We use breathable bumpers but my LO does shove her face through the side of the crib. They're pretty useless anyway because she figures out how to pull them down so she can still get her limbs stuck :(

Baby girl has started sticking her legs through the slats of her crib which leads to a vicious cycle of her waking herself up with her leg stuck. I bought a breathable bumper this weekend and hate it. I mean, it's great for her not getting stuck but I can't figure out how to get it attached to the crib properly.

Sooooo....when did you start using a real bumper on your crib? She never shoves her face into the side of the crib, just her legs. Her head stays in the middle of the crib, just the rest of her body moves around...and around...and around. Should I just get a real bumper already since I know she can move away from it if she needs to or should I figure out how to use this cursed breathable bumper?

What do you use?
