Yep, I've had it as long as I can remember, since I was a little kid. It faded some as I matured, but I've really noticed a huge difference since I've gone gluten-free. As soon as I gluten myself again, it flares up until that's out of my system. It wasn't until after I'd been GF for quite awhile that I read that KP can be a symptom of gluten sensitivity and everything just clicked and I've really started noticing the correlation for me.

Ironically, a week outside with a little sun exposure seems to have helped a lot! Not sure what causes the "flare up," if you will, though.

@pui: My dermatologist said it never goes away. Super sad face. She said we can do things to help manage it/keep it at bay, but the moment we stop, they'll come right back in full force. Sigh.

@LindsayInNY: I have had this for years and I hate it so much :( :( :( I had a prescription lotion from a dermatologist once but it was super greasy, smelled awful, was $$$, and didn't 100% fix the problem.
I just moisturize a lot, exfoliate a little, and wear a lot of 3/4 sleeve shirts.

I have them on my upper arms and like @Mrs Green Grass not much helps them unfortunately. I've had them forever, though, so I pretty much just ignore it. One thing that has helped a little is using L'Occitane almond shower oil probably because its do moisturizing. I love the stuff!

@Alivoo01: hey could you perhaps find out what the spray you were using for KP is called? Or is it too hard to find out?

I've had KP on my arms and thighs my whole life and growing up I was completely embarrassed. Like @twist: I would never wear shorts or skirts growing up. I've since changed my ways but I still hate it. I've never been able to find a good cream that helps. I have super dry skin so I always moisturizer but I've never found anything to get rid of the red bumps :(

Ugh.. I've had KP my whole life & it blows. I never let it keep me from wearing short sleeves or tanks (it gets too hot here), but I've always been self conscious about it. I've tried everything, but nothing has worked. It's less noticeable when I'm tan, but I'm hardly ever tan... ha.

@sandy: it's called Ureadin RX 20 (or 30, which is stronger). I live in Mexico so I'm not sure if it's OTC or even available elsewhere. We buy it at the pharmacy or even in the "nice" Wal-mart in our area.

I think Eucerin Plus also has uric acid so maybe try that?

It's interesting so many people say the sun helps. Our dermatologist has told us to avoid burns on our son's face like the plague. Maybe it's one of those "short term improvement, long term cost" things?

I had this growing up...I also had severe acne that was treated with Accutane. The Accutane cleared up my acne and the KP. My LO has it on her arms and legs...makes me sad but it doesn't bother her. Her pediatrician said it's purely cosmetic so it's better not to start any prescription creams at this age. I am subscribing to this thread though in case anyone has found some home remedies that have helped.
