I second the JJ Cole "shower cap" car seat cover. It's sort of new and I wish I had it with my first! My friend actually gave me something similar that Land End used to make and it'a also fleece so I'll be using that this Winter with my second. It's so much better than bundling him up so much while strapped in, which, isn't that safe to begin with. I already used it a couple of times when my second was born this past Spring. :)

Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to get one of the JJ Cole Car Seat Covers, which is a shower cap style like @mrstilly & @prettylizy are talking about. Thanks for pointing those out!!

Putting poofy buntings on and then trying to adjust the car seats straps would stress me out I think, and those seem easy to use!

i never bought the shower cap thing because i didn't know about it until i read about it on the hb boards, but that's what i would have done. we had a bundleme for charlie, but he was born in a brutal winter. olive was born in a mild winter.

i also have a 7am enfant bag, and it's pricey (i bought it used), but super duper warm. much warmer than jj cole. they have an infant version too.

I second @mrstilly: on the shower cap stretchy band style carseat cover. Doesn't interfere with any of the safety of the straps with bulky clothes or fluffy things under the straps, but keeps LO's little nose toasty warm. They even have little face holes in them to poke their heads out

There JJ Cole (who makes the bundle me) has a carseat cover that fits like a shower cap over the infant seat. Fleece bunting is a great outerwear choice. You dont want something that is too bulky or will compress like down does.

I live in WI and what we have done with my DDs is a bunting like this

http://www.toysrus.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3243885

and then a cozy cover that just stretches over the top part of the seat

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4389487

It's not really like the Bundleme, but an alternative idea is that we have 2 heavy fleece "suits" - one from NorthFace and 1 from Carter's. They are oversized enough to just go over a regular outfit, and fold over so the baby's hands and feet are completely covered. I've tested them with LO, and have no trouble fitting her into her infant carrier with the suit on.

Here's a link to the NorthFace one:
http://www.thenorthface.com/catalog/sc-gear/infants-0m-24m-jackets-amp-vests/infant-buttery-fleece-bunting.html?from=subCat&variationId=49W

Then we just plan to drape a blanket over the carrier to protect against the snow.

We were given a hand me down Bundle Me but it definitely won't fit on our Britax Chaperone and I've read that there are safety issues with them.

Any tips on alternatives? We're having our little guy at the end of November and it can get pretty brisk especially if we move to Iowa shortly thereafter.

Thanks! I tried Google and it just has a bunch of dead links from other message boards/blogs :/
