Also, it will cause them to have dings from banging around during the washing process.</p> <p>After talking to her, I only wash our knives by hand! Especially now that the kids like to "help"!</p> <p>I did some further research and found out that putting knives in the dishwasher can be bad for the knives and the dishwasher (they can become dull from hitting each other, or damage the dishwasher)... so long story short, I stopped washing sharp knives in there. I still wash butter knives though, on the rare occasion that we use one.</p> <p>Do you wash your knives in the dishwasher? </p>
