@Foodnerd81: Yeah, people keep telling me to brace myself when they start getting mobile. Yeah, kinda a scary thought. Enjoying the mobile free days... :silly:

@bluestriped bee: I can't imagine doing it with twin babies! Though I guess at least they can't run away like my toddler, but still.

@Foodnerd81: Yeah, one time DH and I and the babies both went to a BWI meeting. It was funny the ladies flocked to DH. The next time, I went with only one baby and DH stayed home with the other twin. Not sure I'm ready to take both to a BWI meeting. Getting out the house with both kids is definitely a feat.

@bluestriped bee: that's good info, thanks- yes there are a lot of questions I wouldn't have thought of. There is a BWI group here but the meetings aren't that convenient for me, especially getting to them with both kids- I have not mastered any real outings with them both beyond local play groups and music class! I should have gone when I first knew I was pregnant but before I was showing, so I could have tried on but only had to being the toddler!

Do you have a local BWI (baby wearing international) FB group near you? You can try out different ring slings with different shoulder (pleated, gathered, hybrid and others). Also, a lot of times your local BWI group has an ISO thread. I would probably prefer to buy locally before I buy something on the Babywearing swap. I'm on that group, too, but it was definitely intimidating following and buying from the group (if you are new to it). I have purchased from BSW but that was after learned tips from buying from strangers (send money as goods (never gift), do you have a babywearing swap feedback link, have you checked out the seller's feedback link, have you asked the right questions (any pulls, from pet friendly, smoke free home), will the seller include shipping, what about insurance). Yeah, just lots to learn for a new person. That's why I did a local buy or buy brand new before buying used. I did find buying brand new did require some time to break in, but I guess I would take that over buying something that I didn't ask the right questions and ended up with a carrier in bad condition.

Oh, there is a FB group called 'Babywearing on a budget swap'. They list carriers under $100. From my own babywearing BWI group, an expert did recommend not buying used Ergos because there are so many knockoffs that is pretty hard to spot a fake online. Even when you buy one face to face, you have to contact Ergo and send pictures to see if it is real or not... I know this question isn't about Ergos but I wanted to put it out there.

Some sakuras go for a lot more than retail. I've seen them for better prices on our local BST pages than on the Sakura Bloom BST.
I think they are local to you, you might have luck on Craigslist.

@Foodnerd81: There also a Budget Swap too where all items are $100 and under!
And def second looking for your local baby wearing group.. If you are close enough to pick up the price is cheaper too. And often locals will give better deals to other local moms

@snowjewelz: I did just search the Sakura bloom one. Looks like a lot of what is posted is at least as much as new retail prices. I'm not interested in a collectors item, just saving a little in something that I don't care if it's new. Will look for the baby wearing swap.

Our local babywearing group has a good amount of stuff for sale on its FB page at any time. We aren't in that big of a city so I was surprised by how active the page is.

I'm on The Baby Wearing Swap! You can search listings, and they also have an ISO (in search of) thread that you can usually go on to post what you're looking for.

You can also search to see if there's a Sakura BST group?

There's the big swap on Facebook, which is just called "The Babywearing Swap". There's also more specific groups if you like certain makers of wraps.

The swap seems to be moving pretty slow these days, I actually have a ring sling for sale there that hasn't moved at all. To me it's easier if you want a wrap conversion sling, because otherwise you need to buy a wrap, then have it converted. As to how much they hold their value, it really depends on what the wrap is. Sakura's will be cheaper than retail, but wrap conversions might be the same or even more, if it's something that has a lot of demand or it's something that's hard to break in.

If you're interested in a blue/white Natibaby swans ring sling, very very soft and a good price, let me know :).

I am still thinking about buying a ring sling. I've heard (on here) that buying used is good because they are broken in. If you buy or sell used baby carrier, where do you do it? How do you find the Facebook BST groups? Specific for the carrier (like, search Sakura bloom bst?) And are things like ring slings usually cheaper used or is it like Tula carriers where it's like the same price as new?
