I bought on the big side and rolled. We do laundry frequently so usually have about 6 bottoms & 6 tops in rotation.

I didn't really buy ahead since it was so hard to figure out what would fit. We also just bought the bare minimum we could get by with since we were constantly doing laundry anyway due to her spitting up on clothing!

@CharityAnne: I pretty much did not buy anything ahead of time for her first year and just but as she needs things in the current size/season. Even if I miss on out good sales at least I know she will fit things in the appropriate season. Her winter wardrobe also wasn't so different from summer- long sleeve onesies instead of short, and a couple of coats and zip up fleeces to go over. She didn't need to dress that warm since if we were in the stroller, she was in the bundle me and extra blankets as needed, or she was in the car seat in a car that wasn't super cold.

That said, we went through three different sized fleece snow suit things in her first winter! She likes to have a growth spurt right after I buy new clothes.

At that age I didn't buy more than the next size up. And only exactly what she needed. They grow so fast that at that age. It will slow down after 6 months and then you'll have a better idea of what size you can buy for the next season.

She is also about 13 pounds and is currently wearing her 0-3 and 3 stuff comfortably and some of her 3-6 month stuff that is on the smaller side. She still has some 3-6 month outfits that are big for her but I've been trying to put them on her anyway so she can at least wear them a couple times before it changes seasons and gets too chilly.

Sizing is hard because my little one is almost 5 months but already in 9 month clothing. She's 13 pounds. What size is your little one in now?

Ok ladies, I need some help! My little girl was born in April (currently 4 months old) and most of the clothing we were gifted was spring and summer, so she has literally nothing for fall/winter. She will be six months in October and 9 months in January....and some brands have a 6-9 month size and some just have a 6 or a 9. I don't want to buy her stuff that she will outgrow by mid winter, but I also don't want to buy things that will just start to fit nicely by the end. My question is how many pieces should I buy to make a decent sized wardrobe without being too much and what size???
