Around here there are a couple that do specific cuts, but most are whole or half birds and even the places that do pieces the whole birds are cheaper. We do a meat share that adds up to half a pig and I can’t remember how many chickens over the course of a season but comes in pieces (ex. this week we got bacon, pork loin and chicken thighs). When you buy chicken from local farmers does it usually come as a whole chicken? I assume it's not typical that you could get specific parts like thighs or breasts? </p>
