All carseats have to meet the same minimum safety standards. Our backseat isn't huge. Both fit, but the Radian was just okay. It's really tall... Really. The Britax fit much better. We're going to keep the Britax as our rear- facing convertible. We keep the Britax Boulevard in my car for regular use. ETA: she is out of infant seats now so leaving a seat behind isn't an option for us. I can never get them installed tightly enough. But once she graduates to a convertible we'll need to buy two. I think we will go with Britax. They're so freakin' expensive though! Any recommendations on a less expensive option for the 2nd car (Subaru Forester).
