@stiffaknee: I second vinegar/water mix. We use that all the time around here to clean things.

I've bought a lot of toys at consignment sales-I spray them down or soak them in a vinegar/water mixture! Its a natural disinfectant and if there is any residual that might end up in her mouth, I know it won't hurt her!

I just clorox wipe the crap out of stuff if I get it used.

How would bed bugs live on plastic? Is that possible?

if it's plastic, you can dump it into a bucket of water and a little bleach and soak it, then take it out, rinse it, and wash it. I bought a bunch of used plastic toys at a big baby fair type garage sale and that's what i plan on using. bleach kills everything, and as long as i wash/rinse it well afterwards, i have no issues with it.

You could also take the pieces apart and probably throw them in the dishwasher to get disinfected

As long as I can wipe them down with a Clorox wipe, I am ok with used toys. I never do anything soft.

I throw everything I can in the dishwasher or washing machine. If I can't do that, I take dish soap and a rag and hot water and wipe it down as best I can.

My MIL bought a bunch of used toys at a neighbor's garage sale (to keep at her house). She washed them....I'm not concerned.

I have never bought a used toy before. I have gotten a used exersaucer, rock and play and bumbo, but these were from a friend and they were all really easy to clean.

I want to buy the use sillytown toy that the amazing @DpeachLu helped me find in this post http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/please-help-me-find-this-toy

The brand new toy cost $99 on Amazon and ridiculous $200 on the sears website, but I have found it for $24 on ebay. I just worry about buying it used. How easy will it be to clean, what if the person has bed bugs or something. Are these ridiculous concerns? How do you clean used toys
