Much like the other mamas have said, I didn't really have a problem with the stairs either. It was very slow-going in the beginning, but I think that was mainly due to fear I'd tear open my incision. I did receive a tip from a friend though, and she recommended going up the stairs backwards for the first few days...less stress on the abdominal muscles.

I don't remember having much of an issue with my first C-section (we lived in a home with one bathroom and it was upstairs! ah!!). With my most recent C-section (my third), stairs were a huge issue. I remember pretty intense pain going upstairs to do my older kiddos' bath (don't ask why I was doing their bath that fresh off of a C-section, it was a rough recovery time). But, just go slow! You'll be fine. And, I did notice increase bleeding whenever I went up and down the stairs too much, so if that happens don't get worried.

It was slow going, but not horrible. I did limit my stair use though.

First time it was a bigger deal, but I think it was more fear than anything. I did them twice per day. I came down the stairs in the morning when DH went to work, and went back up them in the evening to go to bed. My OB said to limit stairs, and I did.

The second time? Yah, no big deal at all. Much like everything @Mrs. Jump Rope said. The second time was just easier.

@matador84: I've got a split level house!

With my first, it was hard. I had pain going up and down stairs for a good six weeks. I avoided steps if possible which was relatively easy. My husband did our laundry & I didn't have anywhere to go (and if was winter time) so I didn't leave the house.

The second time, it was just easier. I knew I could push through the pain & wouldn't tear open my stitches. I knew I wouldn't hurt myself. I knew I would be okay... And I was. I felt fantastic, to be honest. The car ride home was home. Walking in the house and up the steps was fine. I never felt like I just had a baby, where as with my first I had that sore newness feeling for weeks.

I had no issues with the stairs at all. Probably the only difficult thing was turning over in bed or getting out of bed, if I wasn't being careful how I was moving.
