Will you have any help at all? DH was home for the first two weeks following my RCS and that was huge! I was able to focus on the baby while he did mostly everything with the toddler. By the time he went back to work I felt well enough to be able to tend to the toddler too. It wasn't as bad as I anticipated, but it would've been much harder if I didn't have help those first two weeks.

I agree, though my older was 3 when the second was born so things like high chairs and cribs and car seats weren't an issue. We did talk about it before hand and I started limited my lifting during my pregnancy. I praised her when she did things on her own to encourage the behavior. And when all else failed, I told Dad he had to step it up.

Honestly, what was hardest for us, is she was accustomed to having both of us do things with her. So when she was forced to choose or only have one of us because the other was busy with baby she didn't really like that response. A year later it's still an issue. That really doesn't have anything to do with C-section though.

Both times the hardest thing for me was naps and high chair.

My oldest was 23 months when #2 was born and luckily already in a big girl bed. We have the Tripp Trapp high chair so she was able to climb up herself. I would toss a couple throw pillows on the floor next to the couch so she could climb up and cuddle whenever she wanted to.
By the second week I was feeling perfectly fine and started lifting her when necessary.

With my third it's been harder because my middle is just 12 months old. She's still in a crib and cannot climb into her car seat or high chair. I've definitely been pushing the weight restrictions but so far I haven't had any difficulty (I'm three weeks postpartum).

My advice would be to find whatever tricks you can to enable your older child to come to you or to get where you need them to go.
We bought pet steps for our bed so they can climb up without my help.

Honestly it's not nearly as bad as people think.

I found out yesterday that at the moment, I'm cooking up another breech baby. I'm only 33 weeks so I know there's time for him to turn, but my first baby was breech (found out at 39 weeks) so I'm not that hopeful. I'm going to start doing the spinning babies stuff and look into acupuncture and chiropractors (can't hurt, right?) but in my head, I'm preparing to have a repeat C section. I had no problems with the first one, was home in 36 hours, and I feel like I recovered really well, but this time I will have a very cuddly mama's boy 2 year old at home and it's really stressing me out.

Any tips/tricks/stories about recovering from a c section with an active toddler?
